In every issue of Bakersfield Life, our Dining Divas take a look at one of Bakersfield’s premier restaurants.   Penny Rafferty is our DiningDivaPenny. She is married to Jim and mother of Katie and Ryan, has lived in Bakersfield for 16 years. She feels Bakersfield is a great place to raise a family and an outstanding place to conduct business.   “It seems like everybody knows somebody that you know,” she says. “That is why I find Bakersfield such a terrific home.” I was raised in Rapid City South Dakota. My mom was a good cook who grew up on a farm; a typical dinner when I was growing up consisted of meat, potatoes, a vegetable, rolls and of course dessert! So I love gravy and sauces. My mom cooked every meal at home; a treat for us was to eat at McDonald’s. So, we, unfortunately, eat many meals at home, much to my children’s chagrin!
