Bakersfield.com

I'm a 61 year old retired bookkeeper living with my husband, four cats and one chihuahua in NW Bakersfield.  I was born in Bakersfield but have lived in all parts of Kern County. 

I'm one of those "clueless"   people who love our city.   The climate is awful, the scenery is worse, but the people are wonderful.

I like to garden, cook, do genealogy , crochet,  sew, read, watch movies, eat out, shop, and most importantly  play with my grandkids. 

I started keeping a journal when I was 13 and still write in one sporadically.  I have 9 or more "volumns" of my life so far.  I haven't found the nerve yet to read what I've written for the last 48 years.  I know the journals are full of anguish, happiness, good times and sad times. The best and the worst of me are in those books.   Maybe I'll just leave them for my daughters to dispose of when I die.

I'm working on a family cookbook for my daughters.  Nothing fancy.  Just the things my mother taught me  nd the recipies I've gathered over the years from coworkers and friends.  

My husband of 36 years is my best friend.  It took me a long time to realize that.    I'm just glad I finally did.

I'm always wanting to be a better person than I am.  Unfortunately,  my impatience and temper gets in the way of my good intentions sometimes.   

I think most people are basically good.
