Gottchack went the way of Mervyns. Ask any middle aged women of Bakersfield that remembers when those department store catered to the upscale. Quality was always first and they took care of their customer. This was 20 years ago! Since then they went the way of the "step above" swap meet quality. I recently had this conversation with 16 buncho group of ladies and they all said they couldn't find anything in Gottchacks they could ware. Believe me that when you get 16 , white, upscaled ladies to agree on something you can believe it! When Gottchack came out with an add saying "if you like Mervyns, you'll love Gottchacks" they all laughed and said they'd be out of business by the Valentines day.
