About Colleen
After proudly serving as assistant editor of The Bakersfield Californian's features section since December 2000 -- and as a Californian copy editor and paginator from 1996 to 2000 -- Colleen Jiron has left the building. I didn't go far, sort of back from whence I came: You can find me at CSUB, working on a multiple-subject teaching credential. Originally from the midwest, I have been a Bakersfield resident for more than 20 years and can't fathom why anyone would ever want to live in a state other than California. My husband, Joey, and I have three brilliant, beautiful children and a really smart, cuddly Russian Blue cat named Miaow. I will finish my credential work in Spring '08, and am ever hopeful of landing a classroom despite the local teacher layoffs and general predictions of doom and gloom for education in the state of California. Wish me luck.
