About Ray
I am The Bakersfield Californian's Citizen Journalism Editor. If any reader out there has a story or a photo he or she would like to submit to the paper, I'm the one they send it to. I've lived in Bakersfield for 31/2 years, and I like it — it's a nice mix of big-city amenities and small-town atmosphere. I grew up in San Jose, but I've spent most of my adult life bouncing around the country — to college in Syracuse, N.Y.; to my first full-time reporting job in Bullhead City, Ariz. (the place looks like it sounds); to Roseburg, Ore.; and finally, here. Outside of work, I attend RiverLakes Community Church, where I'm involved in the high school ministry. I also enjoy attending baseball and hockey games, going to movies, listening to classic rock music and spending time with family and friends. And did I mention I can speak Chinese?
