I have been Bakersfield.com's Community Content Coordinator since November 6, 2006.

Since then, I have had the privilege to work with you to continue to build an online community here based on dialogue, varied interests, and, of course, our connection to this place.

Our social networking tools--profiles, blogs, commenting, interest tags, friending, business reviews, and citizen journalism--built on our own homegrown software platform, have been getting better and stronger since their introduction on Bakersfield.com starting in the summer of 2006, because of your participation, constructive criticism, and suggestions.

In the coming months, we plan to roll out more improvements to what we already have and introduce new products and new ways of connecting, organizing information, and spreading the conversation. 

I come from an education background and I came to this job after being an at-home-dad and blogger.  It's been an amazing first year in this job, learning new things and meeting all of you, and I continue to learn every day in this community.  I look forward to all the new people, new conversations, and new discoveries that are ahead.
