About Lauren
I'm the assistant managing editor for Mercado Nuevo, a subsidiary of The Bakersfield Californian. We publish MÁS, The Southwest Voice, The Northwest Voice and Bakotopia.
A Bakersfield native, I went to Our Lady of Perpetual Help and Garces High School. I attended the University of Southern California (Go Trojans!).
I love living in Bakersfield. I spend most of my time with my husband, J.P., my mom, Lynn, our two cats, Aiden and Maitai, Yorkie, Sadie, and my two best friends, Katie and Natalie. We bought our first home in Westchester about a year ago and love walking in the neighborhood and living downtown.
My favorite restaurants are Woolgrower's, Benji's and Uricchio's. During work hours, you can often see me grabbing a coffee at Dagny's. I also love attending events at the Crystal Palace and Fox Theater.
My favorite movies are "The Princess Bride," "Sunset Boulevard" and "Pulp Fiction." My favorite books are "To the Lighthouse," "The Awakening" and "A Confederacy of Dunces." I'm also a huge fan of "Project Runway," "Gossip Girl," and "The Office."
