About T
Hi, My name is Tony, and I was raised in Shafter. I graduated from Bakersfield College before joining the Navy for a four year enlistment. After my discharge, I graduated from Tennessee State Technical Institute at Memphis with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. As a follow up, I also earned a degree in Industrial Technology from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale Illinois. I've been a Mechanical Engineer in the Medical Device Industry since 1990 and really enjoy my career. I wasn't much of a student before my hitch in the Navy. I guess I hadn't found my way yet. I spent more time raising Hell, entertaining the ladies and trying to eek out a living than anything else. While in College, (after marriage and the Navy) something just clicked and everything began to fit. I'm still trying to figure out how to explain it. I'm one of those guys who went to College while working to support myself, so I guess you could say that I'm living proof that anyone in this Country can get an education if they want it bad enough. I definitely did it the hard way, but in retrospect, it was time and money well spent. I've been married to my beautiful Wife since 1986 and we've got two fine Sons. My political view tend to be moderate, maybe leaning to the more conservative side. I'm a hopeless "Gizmonaut" and really enjoy anything electrical or mechanical. I really enjoy challenges that involve designing, building, or modifying anything with lots of thought and my own hands. The satisfaction of a job well done is great! My two Boys have shown me that kids are our greatest resource. I spend a lot of time and money working with the people of the upcoming generations in our local community. They keep me from taking life too seriously and becoming a "Grumpy Old Dude". Kids have a lot to say about what they think. What I've found is that few people over 30, genuinely listen to them and respond to their thoughts. As adults, our responses contribute to their reasoning and understanding abilities. This is how people learn to listen, consider input, apply common sense and think for themselves. These skills, along with a strong work ethic, are critical to a well rounded life.
