                <title>Personal Weight Loss journey</title>

                                    &lt;p&gt;I have always struggled with my weight, but managed to keep it under control in high school by playing soccer and running cross country.&amp;nbsp; At the age of 18 I was in a serious car accident that included leg and ankle injuries; unable to run or even walk for months, I gained weight, topping the scales at 254 pounds at a height of 5&#039;6&amp;quot;.&amp;nbsp; At the age of 22, I woke up one morning and said, &amp;quot;This is enough,&amp;quot; and I began exercising again (working out through the leg pain) and controlling portion sizes.&amp;nbsp; Over eight months, I lost 109 pounds, to a low of 145 pounds, and was able to keep the weight off until I became pregnant with my first and only child.&amp;nbsp; After the birth of my daughter, as a single parent I was short on exercise time, and was only able to maintain my weight at about 160 pounds.&amp;nbsp; As my daughter gets older, though (she is now 3 1/2 yrs old), I am able to find time to exercise, such as in the morning before work and lunch breaks.&amp;nbsp; I now maintain my weight at 130 pounds, which is what my fraternal twin sister (who has never had a weight problem) weighs.&amp;nbsp; I find the keys to maintaining weight loss, which is definitely harder than initial weight loss, are scheduling exercise time, avoiding &amp;quot;dieting&amp;quot; by having healthy eating habits always, and finding other things to do with my time rather than eating from boredom or habit.&amp;nbsp; My personal incentives include being able to share my sister&#039;s clothes and the healthy eating and exercise habits I am passing on to my daughter.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;

                <title>The Best Doctor</title>

                                    Dr. Regis DeBarros, formerly of Clinica Sierra Vista, currently of Kaiser Permanente, is my choice&amp;nbsp;for the best doctor in Bakersfield.&amp;nbsp; He has been my family&#039;s doctor for eight years, including my sister, nephews, daughter, and mother.&amp;nbsp; His medical knowledge is comprehensive and extensive, his demeanor is professional, his ethics are superior, his bedside manner is caring and warm, his follow-up is prompt, and his dedication is to his staff and patients.&amp;nbsp; Dr. DeBarros takes the time to listen to his patients, thoroughly answers all concerns without &amp;quot;talking down&amp;quot; to the patient, follows up personally by phone when necessary, and truly cares about his patients.&amp;nbsp; Personally, I would not have been able to cope with my daughter&#039;s myriad of relatively minor (except to a new mom!) health problems without the support and care of Dr. Debarros.&amp;nbsp; I feel blessed to have a doctor as wonderful as Dr. DeBarros.
