My next door neighbor and I usually go for about a two and a half mile walk every night around the neighborhood. But tonight since the temperature was still in the upper 80's, we decided to go for a walk down to the nearest 7-11 to get a cold drink to quench our thirst in the warm weather. So when we arrive there, the store clerk said the customary hello when you walk into a convenient store, which was fine. My neighbor and I then walk over towards the soda fountains, and notice next to them there is a new iced coffee drink for 99 cents. So we thought why not give it a try, we don't have anything to lose. Well apparently we did have something to lose, because after I dispensed my drink into the little plastic cup, I discovered there was a little black bug in my drink. After seeing this black intruder in my drink, I suddenly lost my appetite for the beverage, so of course I poured it out. Apparenty the store clerk saw me pour it out, and abruptly rushed around the corner and started yelling at me in a different language. I told him I did not understand what he was trying to say, but I did try to manage to tell him that the reason for pouring it out was that there was a bug in it. He glared at me for a few awkward seconds, then walked back around to the register. Me and my neighbor looked at each other in confusion, and then proceeded to make a different selection. My neighbor ended up getting the iced coffee drink, but in a different flavor. I on the other hand got an iced tea out of the soda fountain, which I was hoping was safe. So then we proceeded up to the register after making our final selections. When we get there, we place both of our drinks down on the counter, and he had the nerve to scan my neighbors iced coffee twice, and then my iced tea. My neighbor told be not to say anything because it was only one dollar, and she was the one buying the drinks tonight. It wasn't necessarily the money that is my concern, but the lack of customer service skills that this clerk had, and was rude on top of it! The drink was being sold for 99 cents, and it probably cost them no more than five cents for that one small cup I filled with ice, then the liquid. No wonder we were the only people in the store. I also used to buy my gas there, but that is all history now. Fastrip across the street has cheaper drinks and gas anyways. The customer service is a lot better at Fastrip also.
