If you think you can go onto the Megans Law website and find a listing of all registered sex offenders in your area, unfortunately, you would be WRONG. I know for a fact that NOT ALL REGISTERED SEX OFFENDERS ARE LISTED ON MEGANS LAW. I know someone personally who was convicted in 1996 and is required to re-register every year, but he is not listed on the website; his name is not on the Megans Law website neither is his picture or his address.
Registered sex offenders must re-registered every year either 5 days before their birthday or 5 days after their birthday. If they move, they must report their new address immediately and also if they change cars or jobs.
There are many registered sex offenders not listed on Megans Law for reasons unknown to me. All registered sex offenders are capable of re-offending and, therefore, ALL REGISTERED SEX OFFENDERS SHOULD BE LISTED ON THE MEGANS LAW WEBSITE. Although law enforcement has full access to information on all registered sex offenders, we don't!
Basically, what this means is that parents need to continue doing their job by keeping a close eye on your children because the person next door could be a sex offender and you would never know it.

Not all sex offenders are required to reigster. If you know someone for a fact is required to register and fails to comply, then I feel it is your civil duty to report that individual. You can do this from the Megan's Law site.
