On Saturday, November 7, 2009, the Kern Autism Network will present “Adults on the Spectrum Support Group,” facilitated by Vickie Shufton.  The group will meet at the Kern County Superintendent of Schools office, 1300 - 17th Street, Main Floor Room 1A, in Bakersfield, from 10:00 a.m. until noon.

Vickie Shufton, Ed. S. School Psychologist, is a SELPA Program Specialist in the areas of behavior, crisis intervention and educating adolescents with disabilities.  She has been a high school English teacher, a high school resource teacher, a department chair for Special Education, and a teacher of students with emotional and behavioral challenges in a self-contained program for middle and high school students.

This Adult Support Group is designed for individuals on the spectrum, 18 years and older, no children please.  If you must bring an aide or support person, please let us know in advance for seating accommodations.

Topics include relationships, employment, loneliness, education/college, friendships, social problems, and coping with day-to-day struggles.  This support group meets once a month.
