For my Mother, Virginia Marion

Thanks for lullaby's sung during a noisy storm,

Thanks for one more blanket to keep me warm,

Thanks for teardrops dried and cuts repaired,

Thanks for a gentle smile to show you cared.

Thanks for stories told of lands far away,

Thanks for a loving kiss at the end of the day,

Thanks for homework patiently explained,

Thanks for giving hope when none remained.

Thanks for your embrace through all the years,

Thanks for sharing joy and sharing tears,

Thanks for all you have said and done,

Thank you Mother, your loving son.
