I would just like to see how people in Bakersfield, and the surrounding area feel about the decision of the Kern High School District to retain underachieving Freshman?

You can view the meeting agenda here where this decision was approved:

Are you a parent, educator, student, or interested community member? Do you think that retention is a strategy that will work for these students? Also consider, if the students did not pass the first time, then why will they pass the second time? What additional programs or services have been implemented, or should be implemented to support this bold approach to ensure that these students are at grade level by the time they complete their second year as a ninth grader?

I would like to know if this means that my child can play 5 years of a sport rather than 4. If so then heck yes I love the retention program. He will be a much stronger athlete and more likely be able to be recruited for college.
