0 responses 0 comments One of the great joys of parenting is staying up late with your child. Sewing up that costume she just has to have for school tomorrow. Helping with another algebra lesson. Or watching a scary movie together. Tonight it's a little different. She is off to her senior prom. She looked beautiful. And I'm sure she'll have a great time. But it's still tough to let go.
Eighteen years ago, God answered our prayers and our little "miracle baby" was born. She grew up running and kicking, laughing and dancing, jumping and reaching. Some-time honor student, part-time angel, full-time goofball, Lauren has been a constant source of amazement to her mother and me. She could talk her mom into rebounding while she worked on her jumpshot. She could con me into a game of Candyland (and beat me every time). But time flies.
Laurent grew up tall and strong with her older brothers Larry, Eric and Joe to lead the way. She started as a Bobcat, then a Bulldog, then a Warrior. Now she takes that first giant step toward adulthood. She'll be attending Cal State Bakersfield and playing volleyball for the Runners. If you see her on the court or meet her on the campus, get to know her and get to know a young woman who is sweet, kind, bright and beautiful. We did, and we love her more than she'll ever know.
