The Community Action Partnership of Kern’s Friendship House Community Center has been under reconstruction since 2005 and is scheduled to be open in 2009.
The Friendship House has been providing services to residents in this community for almost 40 years. In 2003, the Partnership was asked to assume financial and operational control of the facility. A grant from the State of California Parks and Recreation Department was received to demolish existing structures and build a new youth and community center. These, in addition to other community donations, are bringing this dream of revitalization to fruition.
As the opening date approaches, the Partnership is preparing for programs and services by asking the community its input. Please plan to attend this important meeting. For more information please contact Romala Ramkissoon, Director of Family and Community Services, at 661-336-5236, or email rramkiss@capk.org.
