Covenant Community Services Inc. (CCSI) is a non-profit, social services organization that provides therapeutic foster care, mentoring, family preservation and mental health services to foster children and their families—helping them to succeed. Recently, in an agreement with the Housing Authority, CCSI has received management privileges at “Building Blocks,” which is a transitional living community for emancipated foster youth.  (Emancipated foster youth are children in the foster care system who have reached age 18 and are no longer supported by the county foster care system) According to the Ken County Network for Children, 158 children reached age 18 in 2006 and many of them had no place to live and no family to aid them.

The youth in residence at Building Blocks will participate in an 18-month program designed to teach them the skills they need to live successful, independent lives.  The youth will learn to job search, create a resume, interview, retain a job, budget, maintain and care for a home, and personal health and safety.  This project is not fully funded and any contributions made will be of great benefit to these youth.  For more information by phone call 661.326.8304 or by email contact@covenantcs.net or on the web www.covenantcs.net
