Have you ever thought about how you can make a difference in our community? There are so many children in Kern County who need support from the community to live happy, healthy and successful lives. All Children in foster care are victims of some form of abuse or neglect. Children who have been abused and neglected are taken from their homes and placed in the foster care system. These children are not "bad kids" - they are victims of physical beatings, sexual assaults, and general neglect (lack of proper meals, hygiene, healthcare). These children need someone to care for them—they need you!
Kern County has a shortage of foster families who are willing to open their homes to children in need. Many children are placed in group homes or in foster families outside Kern County because there aren't enough homes in our community.
Covenant Community Services will be holding FREE information meetings on foster parenting, mentoring, and other opportunities for you to get involved. The mission of Covenant Community Services (Covenant) is providing hope and love to abused and neglected children. Covenant is seeking foster families who can provide a home where these children can grow in the love of Jesus Christ. We serve Kern County’s Department of Human Services as a licensed foster family agency.
These FREE information meetings are scheduled every two weeks beginning September 4th, 2007. Additional dates include September 18th, October 2nd, 16th, 30th, November 13th and 27th. All meetings will last about an hour and begin at 5:30PM and are held at Covenant’s Office located in downtown Bakersfield at 1616 29th St. Contact Jessica or John at 661-326-8304 to RSVP for the meeting of your choice but, if you are unable to make the 5:30PM meeting time, call to arrange an alternative time.
Come to find out more information on how you can help meet the needs of a hurting and hopeless child in our community. Too many children are unable to live with a safe and loving family; you can solve this injustice by becoming a Covenant foster family. The children need you…we need you.
