I worked part-time for Auto Photo for 13 ½ years, September 1978 to March 1992. Auto Photo was headquartered in London with its regional office in Costa Mesa. I was an independent contractor.
My responsibility was to maintain Photo Booths located throughout Bakersfield. I had Photo Booths at Woolworth’s 19th & ‘K’ Streets and College Center, Newberry’s at 19th & Eye Streets and Benton Park at South ‘H’ & Wilson Road, K-Mart on 34th Street, two Jimmy’s Arcade, Rosanne’s Bar at California Avenue & Real Road and in the Mug Room at Sheriff’s Central Receiving (downtown jail). I got a commission plus a monthly flat fee on the one in the Mug Room.
I did this concurrent with my fulltime. I quit because Auto Photo wanted me to expand to other business in Bakersfield and did not have the time to devote to the expansion.
I can tell many stories associated with my time at Auto Photo.
