Odyssey Hospice patient Emilia Garcia is 95-years-old and has been a native of Bakersfield since 1952. Bertha bustamonte, her daughter, mentioned to our Community Education Representative, David Reich, that her mom loved Mariachi music and has missed hearing it since her mom became ill. Odyssey staff immediately started to make her wish come true and ,after a few phone calls, reached the Kern County Youth Mariachi Foundation. Guadalupe Quinonez, one of the parents, responded with a resounding, "Yes! We'd love to play for Emilia!"

On August 31st at 6:30 P.M., fice mariachi students came in playing and serenaded Emilia in her home, then stayed to have photos taken with her after. We would like to thank the Kern County Youth mariachi Foundation for helping bring joy to a very special lady and her family.
