Our Christmas tradition is this old weather beaten Santa Clause tree top ornament. It has adorned our tree top since Etta and I were married 55 years ago. Our children and grand children have handled it year after year. Each year it gets more worn, his nose is cracked and one eye has faded but he still has his smiling mouth. From his place at the top of the tree he has witnessed some hard time Christmas's but many more good times. A sad time in 1957 when the whole family had the Asian Flu and He was up there when dad had to work out of town, missing Christmas with the kids. A few times he saw new little babies peering at him with questioning faces until they grew up and began their own families. Yes the old, beat up Santa still brings an occasional tear to a few old eyes when he makes his yearly visit because he brings with him so many years of family love.
