On Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008, the Kern Autism Network (KAN) will present a Behavior Intervention Workshop led by LaQuita Spivey. The workshop will be held at Hilton Garden Inn Bakersfield, 3625 Marriott Drive, Bakersfield, from 9 a.m. until noon.
Ms. Spivey is a board certified behavior analyst and founder of Innovative Behavioral Solutions, Inc. She is a doctoral student in the Special Education, Disabilities and Risk Studies program at the University of California in Santa Barbara. Ms. Spivey completed her undergraduate studies in psychology at Auburn University and has a master’s degree in psychology with a specialty in applied behavior analysis from Florida State University.
During her career, Ms. Spivey has worked with hundreds of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. She has conducted functional assessments, developed behavior intervention plans and created skill acquisition programs to assist individuals in gaining independence and enhancing their quality of life.
This workshop will cover topics related to Applied Behavior Analysis, behavior intervention plans, reinforcers and positive reinforcement, and proactive and reactive strategies.
Registration for the workshop begins at 8:30 a.m. and the presentation starts at 9 a.m. Current paid Kern Autism Network members are free; non-members $10 per person to be collected at the door by check or cash (sorry no PO's).
