The Mendiburu Magic Foundation will be donating $20,000 to Bakersfield Memorial Hospital on Thursday, Jan. 3. All money was raised at the recent “Spirit of Wine” Extravaganza hosted at Valentien Restaurant by Dr. Hemmal Kothary and Ms. Michelle Oxford.

The foundation has established separate and distinct monetary assistance funds at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital (CHW facilities), Los Angeles Children's Hospital, UCLA Medical Center and Central California Children's Hospital specifically for Kern County children and families.

With decreasing public support, increasing financial burdens due to these medical conditions, and the challenge of balancing all of these factors, our families are frequently stressed and overwhelmed..

“Our public-benefit organization tries to assist families by relieving these stressors and contributing towards healthy community strategy. We can help with small items (things that are immediate and may possibly fall thru the cracks during necessary treatment) like home utility bills, gasoline for treatments, medication, incidentals, lodging,” says Mendiburu Magic Executive Advisory Board Member, Dr. Hemmal Kothary.

During times of catastrophic or life threatening illness for children ages 0-17, MMF provides those families assistance in creating "Everlasting Memories" and improving "Quality of Life."

Mendiburu Magic Foundation Founder & President, Brian Mendiburu says that “…funds are generated through annual special events, corporate and individual contributions and are allocated regionally, at the discretion of the Board of Directors. Annual contributions reflect the success of our fund raising efforts for that fiscal year; and we are so grateful to Hemmal Kothary for what he has done today.  I can only hope that other community philanthropists, business leaders and physicians pay recognition to what Dr. Kothary has done for Kern County today.”

The Mendiburu Magic Foundation (MMF) will directly contribute to worthy community need, and in particular:

(1) Ongoing medical research for cancer
(2) Help children and families affected by any catastrophic or life threatening illness
(3) Community impact programs with an emphasis on positive youth development

The Mendiburu Magic Foundation is an accredited non-profit public benefit organization that is a recognized 501c3 entity, according to the United States Internal Revenue Service.  MMF was founded in loving memory of Nancy Ann Mendiburu on June 19, 2000.
