Location: Highway 178 & 155, Kern River Valley, Ca 93240

For a third year, the Kern River Valley Art Association is pleased to present another self-guided tour to 28 valley artists' studios and galleries, representing over 150 artists and craftspeople, giving art enthusiasts the chance to see fine art and crafts in the making, and where artists live and work in a wide range of media including painting, photography, jewelry, sculpture, metal arts, woodcarving, ceramics and more.

Artists welcome the public as guests in their home, serve refreshments, show their creations and share their artistic experiences.  This is a marvelous opportunity to interact with artists and craftspeople, see what inspires their creations and purchase one of a kind treasures to wear, or display or give as gifts to special people.

For decades, the Kern River Valley has inspired painters, photographers and craftspeople.  There's something about the Kern River Valley, the wild and scenic Kern River, Isabella Lake and the Southern Sierra Mountains that attracts the artists that make their homes there.  The Valley's art scene has blossomed in recent years, and where there are artists, art lovers are sure to follow.

Last year the event was such a big success that it has been expanded this year to two weekends.  On April 19 and 20, studios and galleries in Lake Isabella, Weldon, South Lake, Bodfish, French Gulch, and Isabella Highlands will be open to the public.  On April 26, and 27 studios and galleries in Kernville and Wofford Heights will be open to the public.  Hours are from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Prior to the event tour and map booklets are available for purchase in Bakersfield at the Arts Council of Kern located at 2000 K Street, Suite 110; In Kernville at the Kernville Chamber of Commerce, Kern River Inn Bed and Breakfast, Kernville Antiques and Gifts; in Wofford Heights at the Rich Pelletreau Wildlife Gallery and Studio and Nuui Cuni Indian Center; in Lake Isabella at the Kern River Valley Chamber of Commerce; or by telephone from Shirley and Jim Davis (760) 379-2844.

On the days of the event tour and map booklets are available for purchase in Wofford Heights at the Rich Pelletreau Wildlife Gallery and Studio and the Nuui Cuni Indian Center; and in Kernville at Kernville Antiques and Gifts and the Kern River Inn Bed and Breakfast.

Previewing the tour booklet is a great way to find the studios and galleries you most want to see, plan your day, and the best route to the artists' studios.  The price of admission is a $10.00 tour booklet, which acts as a "ticket for two" to the event.  It includes a list of artists, their medium, studio/gallery locations and a detailed area guide map.

This event is sponsored by the Kern Rive Valley Art Association and the Arts Council of Kern.  This event has received funds from the Kern County Board of Supervisors and the Arts Council of Kern.
