A terrible thing happend to a little boy that was only 9 years old. His name was Zane Newton of Bakersfield CA.    He was playing with his friend Garrett who is also 9 years old . They were playing outside around 10 am ,  they decided to go into a field that had a sump located it in it. The boys were playing tag having fun like always. Zane noticed a ball and took off to pick it up. Unfortantly Zane stumbled and slid. The sump fell in on him. The dirt sufficated him to death.

To Garretts disbelif he watched his friend fall into a colvert and start being buried alive. Garrett got down on his hands and knees and tryed to start digging his friend out . There was no use the dirt clauds were too heavy for his little hands. So Garrett panicked because he knew they were not supose to be playing in this field. Also he just witnessed somthing that even I as an adult can't even imagine seeing.

As for when he went back he did what any normal 9 year old would have done it was backed up by a phyc. at Kern Medicial Center .  He thought he would be blamed for what just happened he was scared ! He did not intentially lie to hurt anyone expecially his best friend. He was in shock and disbelif. We know that Zane knows he was there trying to get him out . He is in heaven playing ball and he knows Garrett loved him and will always miss him.

A lot of people are trying to crucifie him for lieing ! People he is 9 years old . Physically and mentally ! As for the people talking about how his parents should be sued for the costs of the amber alert and money spent. Come on do you not think this family and this boy have payed enough ? If it was your child was in his shoes would you be standing up saying yea sue me ?

Regardless of if he lied or not it would not have saved Zane . The baby died within a few mins.  Boys are Boys ! Why was it so easy for them like all the other kids who have snuck in there to play ? Where were the signs ? The barbed wire on top so impossible to climb over ?  The pieces of fence missing which next day they fixed ? Day too late I might add !

Garrett loved his friend and he never wished any harm and did not realize what was really taking place. I still even feel it's a bad dream and I'm 32 years old. Garrett needs everyone's love and support right now . He is a baby. He has only been here for 9 years on this earth . Why do we have some cruel adults out here making it even worse on the baby. He has enough hurt and grief to deal with . He nor his family need people making it even harder. If Zanes mom and family still love and are here to help Garrett then why can't the rest of you ?
