Nearly a week ago my daughter's father slipped away into the sea hoping to rescue his boat which had become un-moored with a big storm which came out of the North east.
In a state of seaspair and sleeplessness not to mention complete devastation I wrote a blog or two, one in the Bakersfield.com online News.
To my amazenent I got comments which, if I didn't know better came from people who only seem to think of themselves and thier present issues at hand...be it financial unrest, family matters or the struggles (wich we all have had) they have had in thier own lives.
Some had the audacity to think that the trust Fund which I, along with his family (The Platt Foundation and the Santa Barbara Fisgermans Association) was making a plea for monies for myself or her care while she is still in my care.
These contributions which were quite difficult to arrange are meticulously created for a child who otherwise would be receiving child support and a parental support throughout college and most likely the rest of his (the father) life.
Many people have life insurance which Mr Edwin Platt did not. Many have unions, which Mr Platt did not. Even social security is out because guess what- you can't do social security without a body.
It amazes me how selfish, and not selfless so many people are. They do not seem to realize that the only truly honest way to live is by doing selfless, not selfish things. They say one good turn deserves another, and the more you give the more you receive (not necessarily a monetary comment).
Every night when I say my prayers before I go to bed I ask God to please bring back the Golden Rule and help the next generations to understand that it's not necessarily what you say or do it is how you say and do it.
Here, again is the lik to Lindsey Platt's trust fund-

Also, I can't help but post a comment a friend he knew wrote:
"I am utterly shocked and dismayed by some of the comments on this page! I knew Skip through the Hash House Harriers. There wasn't a kinder, more generous man alive. In the "Hash" family, we rally round when one of "ours" is in need. It doesn't matter what they're financial situation is/was - we help. It's who "we" are! I'm in the process of putting together some runs where the proceeds go directly to LIndsay's trust fund. I remember when Skip contributed quite generously to a donation box we had set up when one of our members needed a major operation and had no health insurance. So in response to your questions on what would he have done for his daughter had he not gone missing, he'd be putting her through college"
If nothing else please pray for all of us who are having the most difficult of times coming to terms with losing so many knew well, and loved with all our hearts. he will be missed.
Susan R Allen, Susan Platt, Lindsey Platt, Betty Platt nancy Platt and many more...too many to mention here.
