The 37^th Annual Bakersfield Junior Miss Scholarship Program will be held Friday, April 18^th, 2008. Junior Miss Beach Party Fun will be held at Standard School Auditorium located at 1200 N. Chester Ave in Bakersfield.

Seventeen local high school juniors compete for over $7,500 in college scholarships. Local weatherman, Kevin Charette of KGET-TV Channel 17 serves as master of ceremonies and is joined by Bakersfield’s current junior miss, Stockdale High School senior, Bethany Feil as they host the evening’s program. Contestants participate in categories of fitness, self-expression, judges’ interview, scholastic scores and individual talent. This is an entertaining and exciting celebration of today’s youth. Have a great time cheering on your favorites and finding out who will earn the title and scholarship as the Bakersfield Junior Miss, Class of 2009.

This years contestants include from BHS, Breanna Abe, Melissa Ellis, and Michelle Thompson; from Garces HS, Julia Berchtold and Elizabeth Farr; from Highland, Jacqueline Dickson, Chelsea Brown and Olivia Snider; from Centennial HS, Megan Burroughs and Caylynn Simonson; from East HS, Karla Castro; from Foothill HS, Arzel Mierop; from Stockdale HS, Lauren Emerson, Anna Fairman, Grace Stearns and Sally Wang; and from Liberty HS, Adriana Lopez.

Tickets for the 2^nd Annual Scholarship Dinner are still available. A catered “Beach Party Dinner” will be served at Standard School before the program. Dinner starts at 5:30pm on Friday, April 18^th. Your dinner ticket includes dinner, dessert, raffle ticket, special entertainment, preferred parking and a reserved seat for the Class of 2009, Bakersfield Junior Miss Scholarship Program. Scholarship Dinner tickets are $30 adult and $20 children (10 & under). To be guaranteed a seat at the Scholarship Dinner tickets should be pre-purchased.

Tickets for the Bakersfield Junior Miss Scholarship Program, Class of 2009 are available at the door for $10 adult, $8 children (10 & under). Doors open at 6:30pm, general seating, program starts at 7:00pm.
