Yet another new diet to add to the overcrowding diet isle, but wait… this one might actually work.

A client of mine recently sent me an email asking me to custom make a corset for her. She wanted a heavy duty, ½ inch steel boned replica of one that was worn in Gone with the Wind.

The reason? Her sister had gastric bypass surgery and since she didn’t want to be as extreme, she figured wearing a tight corset would do the same thing, squash her stomach and prevent her from eating.

Hmm, I wear corsets frequently, but I never really took into account that when I’m wearing one, I really don’t or can’t eat that much because I’m usually struggling to breathe. None the less, I decide to put her theory to the test. Wear a corset around for a week to see if it would help to curb my appetitive.

Prior to putting the corset on, I had to weigh in, 155 lbs.
My plan was to wear the corset every day for a week, starting at 10am and take off at 4pm.

The first day, I was in awe that I had a waistline. After the birth of my son, it’s been something that was missing in my life that I desperately wanted back. I didn’t want to eat because, heck, I looked great! My breasts were hoisted up and my waistline was neatly tucked away.

When I took it off that afternoon, my body felt relieved, but I was a little sad to see the waistline go back to normal. I didn’t eat much on day one, but I think that was due to excitement rather than the corset.

By day 2, my body was a lot more ready for the corset, when I put it on that morning, it felt very comfortable and once again, I looked great! I ate a small bowl of cereal that morning and I didn’t feel hungry again until the late afternoon. I had a turkey sandwich and I was full, I didn’t even want a drink.

On day 3, I decided to put the corset to the test. I made myself 2 scrambled eggs, two pieces of toast and a glass of orange juice. I was able to eat about half of it before I ran out of breath. For lunch, I ate half a tuna sandwich and drank about a half glass of carrot juice. I tried eating a bowl of cherries for dessert, but I started to feel really full and had to take the corset off; for a moment I thought I was going to burst out of it.

On the morning of day 4, I noticed I had to tighten the laces in the back of the corset. Could I possibly be losing weight? The corset certainly did look great under my clothes and I couldn’t get over the fact that I had my waistline back. For breakfast, I had a bowl of cereal again, and for lunch I had some left over pasta for the previous night. I was extremely full after lunch, and I wanted to take the corset off again, but I decided to stick it out and wear it for the rest of the afternoon.

By day 5, I was still amazed at my waistline every time I put the corset on. I wanted my body to look like my corseted body when I took the corset off, it made me not want to eat. I had to eat, to be healthy, but after my breakfast cereal, I noticed myself snacking on oranges and cherries for the rest of the day.

At the end of the corset day, I weighed myself, 154lbs. I lost a pound.

Was it worth it? Losing a pound a week is not bad, in fact it’s really healthy, but seeing my body in a dimension that made me happy was priceless. At the end of day 5, I was completely motivated to continue my weight loss goals and to make a healthy effort to do a few crunches a day.

The corset may or may not be the reason I lost a pound, but it did help me gain some self esteem and for some reason, my back feels great.

If you are not accustomed to wearing corsets, it’s best to try a training corset or one with a little stretch in the material. I would recommend the everyday corset or a Bridal corset from Snares of Venus. http://www.snaresofvenus.co...
