08/18/2008 my brother, Michael Boyer, had been taken to the hospital for what we had thought was a spider bite or staph infection that was getting out of control, which caused his face to swell to where his eyes were swollen shut. After numerous test and being evaluated by a doctor we were devastated to find out that his kidneys had been failing. He was then rushed to the childrens hospital in madera, california. After and ultra sound had been completed we had found out that Michael had only 15% of his kidneys that were functioning. There fore we realized that was why his face had been swelling. His kidneys were not funtioning enough to put off the red cells to fight off the infections. There had never been any side effects of symptom to this condition. We absolutely had no idea of the information to come. The doctors then decided to do a biopsy to find out why his kidneys were failing. 08/21/2008 we received the results of the biopsy. it was then we found out michaels kidneys were unrepairable. Our options for treatment are michael being placed of dialysis until there is a match for a kidney donor.

Michael only being 15, getting ready to start his sophomore year at north high school was unable to attend his first day of school. He is very scared and our family has just been so devastated. We will have to return to madera at least twice a week for further treatment as well as michael being on dialysis while at home. We are looking to the community for any help you can give. Thank you!
