Bob DeLoss - "Headwaters of the Amazon," Oct. 7th. Bob DeLoss begins his tour of the upper Amazon in the city of Lima, Peru. From there he goes to Iquitos, where the river broadens to 2 1/2 miles in width. Bob shows us the culture of different Indian tribes - the Yagua and the Jivaro (who specialize in shrunken heads). The film offers an expansive and in-depth view of this fascinating area of the Western Hemisphere.
Rick Ray - "The Soul of Morocco," Oct. 14th. Rick Ray offers his new film on Morocco. He covers all of Morocco, including the eternal Sahara, markets with their fruits, tapestries, and mint tea; artisans working in mosaics or brass; silk slippers and Fragrant spices; Kasbahs and ancient desert palaces, and high tech mosques with laser beams pointing to Mecca.
Tom Sterling - "Bhutan, The Cloud Kingdom," Oct. 21st. Tom Sterling transports the viewer to an unusual site or region to the last independent Buddhist Kingdom, Bhutan. The kingdom was founded in 747 by an Indian saint. From the start, it sought isolation from the outside world. Up to the later part of the 20th century, it was largely an unknown land, filled with myth and legend. Now it faces the problem of how to preserve its gentle Buddhist culture from the effects of modern technology like television. Sterling's film shows the unique culture, but also captures the spectacular landscapes, the lush rainforests, the glorious monasteries, the quaint villages and the wildlfie unique to the Himalayas.
