On Saturday, September 20, the Kern Autism Network will present “The Importance of Visual Structure in the Home for Autistic Children,” a workshop led by Danielle Bresee. The workshop will be held at the Kern County Superintendent of Schools office, 1300 - 17th Street, Room 1B, in Bakersfield, from 8:15 a.m. until noon.
With over 30 years of experience, Danielle Bresee has worked with children affected by autism in special education. She is a licensed Speech and Language Pathologist, and she has been a special day class teacher and a program specialist with behavioral emphasis.
Her work in this field has helped many autistic children overcome their anxiety when a new concept has been introduced in the child’s surroundings and visual structure has had to be introduced.
A visual structure schedule enables the parent to provide an informative home environment that allows their child to understand the task, how to begin, how to do the task, and what comes next without anxiety.
This workshop is for parents, teachers and those working with autistic individuals.
Registration begins at 8:15 a.m. and the presentation starts at 9 a.m. Current paid Kern Autism Network members are free; non-members $10 per person to be collected at the door by check or cash (sorry no PO's or credit cards). Seating is limited and reservations are required. To register to attend, contact Ramona Puget at 661-588-4235.
The Kern Autism Network provides support, awareness, information and education to families, professionals and the public throughout Kern County. The Kern Autism Network is a chapter of the Autism Society of America. For more information, visit our website at www.kernautism.org.
