Cactus and succulents at the Kern County Fair

After not participating in the outdoor scene category at the Kern County Fair for several years, we decided at the last minute to create one. Ours are always a “bring-what-you-have” group effort. This year we decided to depict the KC Fair in little vignettes, such as Home Economics, Rocks & Beads, Potted Plants, and Arts & Crafts. As usual, it’s a challenge to fit everyone’s personal tastes into the scene. It is fun!

We took first prize in our division. That's no suprise as I think we were the only entry. But we also took the Sweepstakes Prize!

By the way, come to our 9th Annual Cactus and Succulent Show & Sale at the East Hills Mall from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 11 and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 12. For more info, e-mail thecactuspatch@aol.com.

Sorry to say that there was a mistake in the points count by three. Our scene did not get the Sweepstakes award. Watch out for us next year!!
