On October 4th the Nile bar & grill will be the host to Bakersfield’s first ever Artistic Orchestra, an artistic exposé which will include everything from local fashions designers, dancers, painters, and musicians.

The show is the brainchild of Jessica Lengson, a Los Angeles native who moved to Bakersfield two years ago. Jessica says, “It was a cultural shock for me when I first moved here. I was so used to artist being out in the open in L.A, it was hard for me to adjust to the more mundane lifestyle of Bakersfield. I new that there were artist here, good artist, but I couldn’t understand why they were so secluded. I wanted to do something that brought them out into the open.”

Jessica originally came up with the idea while listening to her boyfriend’s band. “The idea started off with me wanting to do a fashion show to live music, and as we began to elaborate on the idea, I wanted to include other mediums of art. I guess you can say that the diversity of the show is a reflection of my overall feelings on art. I don’t really have a favorite form of art; I just like the act of expressing my individuality. ”

The show will include musical performances by the heavy rock band Lucid Lurid, the teenage band The Rozzes, DJ Sabre, J-BRO-5Ski, Lance, and Jessica’s band The Subliminotes. The Fashion segment will feature designs by Dalia Ziemann, Nichole Patino, and Jessica. Attendees will be able to purchase original art pieces by a variety of local painters, and will see dance performances by Diosa, and LQ’s Performing Arts Center.

Additional contributors include: Jessica Moncrief, and The Bakery, who will provide photos and video documentation of the event. Bonnie Fortson, Spring Rain Flowers, Linsey Aguirre, Cheryle Black will provide make-up and Hair services for the event, and contributing Salons include Le Vuitton, Shear West, Pizzaz and Simply Salon.

Jessica has also enlisted the help of many of her friends and says, “I really want to thank all the people who have contributed to this in anyway, especially Jason, my son Elijah, the Langson/Wallace families, as well as everyone who purchased tickets in advance or contributed in anyway. I couldn’t have done this without your help.”

The doors open at 4 P.M. for persons over the age of 21, and tickets will cost fifteen dollars at the door. Ten percent of the proceeds will go to the Jamison’s Children Center and additional donations are appreciated.

If anyone would like to contribute or gather more information on the event please contact Jessica, or assistant coordinator Iris Idolyantes at Myspace.com/jessicalengson.
