Nick Hengtgen of Bakersfield, California has been selected as one of six finalists for Dickies' American Worker of The Year contest. For 16 years, the American Worker of The Year contest has honored farmers, builders, teachers, warehouse workers and electrical linemen just to name a few.
Imbued with a thirst for knowledge and ambition at the early age of 18, finalist Nick Hengtgen attended college while simultaneously starting his own business building parts for Rhinos and ATVs. His incredible motivation and drive is attributed to his father, who Nick says always inspired him to follow his dreams. When it comes to working hard Nick is up to the challenge, saying, “I’m honored to be an American. There are people overseas fighting for our freedom, and it’s great to have the opportunity to work and to work hard.”
Nick’s passion for cars and racing resides on and off the job, as he closely follows NASCAR and championship driver Jimmie Johnson. Nick also involves himself in philanthropic work, donating his time to CASA.
As a finalist, Nick will be awarded a prize package including a trip for two to the Professional Bull Riders World Finals in Las Vegas, where he will receive a Yamaha four-wheeler and a regional Dickies gift certificate. Announced during the PBR World Finals intermission, the grand prize winner will win the newly upgraded grand prize package of a 2009 Ford pick-up truck, a Yamaha Rhino premium four-wheeler, a regional Dickies gift certificate and a trip to the Dickies 500 for a chance to win $1 million by randomly selecting the number of one of the Sprint Cup cars, should it go on to win the race.
