It was a family event Sunday when volunteers of all ages gathered to use their artistic skills for a good cause.
Twenty people put brush to canvas creating colorful banners for Saturday's Caravan For Compassion. The banners will hang on the trucks driving from Kernville to Southfork, picking up donated food and clothing for the needy in the Kern River Valley. Handprints, footprints and paw prints were contributed by the smallest volunteers, adding fun to a serious effort to make this holiday season more comfortable for members of the community who are struggling.
Donated items can include non-perishable food such as: beans, pasta, packaged potatoes, soups, canned meats, canned vegetables, etc. Diapers, packages of new socks and gently used winter clothing are also needed such as: coats...hats…mittens and gloves...blankets
This is a community effort organized by Al Steuart 760-376-1546 and Holly Gross 760-223-0269. Items collected will be split between The Food Pantry, God's Store House and the Salvation Army in the Kern River Valley.
