On Saturday, May 16, 2009, the Autism Society of America Chapter-Kern Autism Network will host “RDI Therapy-Relationship Development Intervention,” a workshop presented by Susan Hollar. The workshop will be held at the Kern County Superintendent of Schools office, 1300 - 17th Street, Room 1B, in Bakersfield, from 8:30 a.m. until noon.
Susan Hollar, MS CCC, is a licensed pediatric speech/language pathologist and certified RDI Consultant. She teaches at the Department of Communication Disorders and Sciences, California State University, Northridge. She currently holds a Supervisor level certification in the RDI by Steven Gutstein, Ph. D. for children with autism where she trains other professionals in RDI and presents parent workshops.
This workshop will address understanding the role of parent as mentor/guide; developing channels of communication; developing a relationship with your child; and understanding how you can support dynamic flexible thinking in your child.
Current paid Kern Autism Network members are free; non-members $5 per person to be collected at the door by check or cash (sorry no PO's). Seating is limited and reservations are required. To register to attend, call 661-588-4235 or email kernautism@gmail.com.
