Al Gore's Case for War in IRAQ!
I know that you Dems are not going to like the fact that your Dem God has stated over and over that Saddam had WMD's and blames Bush #1 for doing nothing about it. But what I don't understand...if Gore knew about all this in 1992, why didn't he and Clintongue do something about it? hmmmm - oh that is right, it was an election year and they had to sound tough. LET THE EXCUSES BEGIN! 36 comments from 11 users

The Clinton administration's anti-terrorism law efforts evoked the following December 1996 comment by conservative James Bovard, policy advisor for the Future of Freedom Foundation.
Clinton's anti-terrorism programs that the Repugs fought against: Read it and weep. posted by

Amway, Clinton *DID* something about it. That's why when Bush kicked the UN inspectors out and invaded, they found...nothing. No WMD's. No WMD programs. And if Shrub had let the inspectors do their work, they'd have told us that without the waste of 3512 American lives and a trillion dollars. But then Cheney wouldn't have gotten his little war-for-oil. Enjoy your cheap gas, Amway. 3512 Americans paid for it. And counting. . Democrats act, Republicans lie about it. Simple when you know the key. posted by

When are you going to make excuses for the Rethugs screwing up everything they touched? Or perhaps you approve of their facist bs.

But then Cheney wouldn't have gotten his little war-for-oil. U.S. military admits Iraq war was for oil: In a Sunday afternoon discussion that mixed gentle coaxing with a sober appraisal of politics in Baghdad and Washington, the commander, Adm. William J. Fallon, told Prime Minister Nuri Kamal al-Maliki that the Iraqi government should aim to complete a law on the division of oil proceeds by next month.
The Pentagon and WH has done nothing in Iraq for the last 3 months but push for passage of the oil bill in Iraq. posted by

Clinton *DID* something about it. Funny how the rightwingers "forget" about the 1998 bombing in Iraq Clinton authorized (while the rightwingers were screaming "wag the dog") when it's convenient but use it against Clinton like a cudgel ever opportunity they can. Rightwingers seem to suffer from a collective schizophrenia. posted by

If they don't get an oil law passed by September the Bushies may consider *THAT* reason to reconsider the surge. They have no other metric anymore. . That law basically gives Iraqi oil to the four largest petro companies under sweetheart contracts. posted by

Personally, I don't think it was Clinton's bombing of Iraq that kept Saddam from getting WMD's, it was the sanctions. The bombing just made him keep his head down. Because we didn't find *ANYTHING*. No bombed-out factories, no stockpiles, nada. . Now, Clinton's 1993 bombing of the Iraqi intelligence HQ seems to have done some good, though... posted by

It's nice to see amway endorse Hillary as our next pres, but she's a bit too conservative for my taste.
How many times do you have to be told that Saddam hated OBL and Al Qaeda? They were on opposite sides amway. I guess there's no reasoning with someone that thinks a good solution to the Oil for Food scandal is massive destruction through bombing raids and an occupation with no end in sight. Oh, and the summer of 2001 was a whole year and a half into GWB's first term. It was hardly "right after he took office" but if that makes you feel better then go ahead and keep on keepin on. Life's a Garden. Dig it. posted by

Are you really just going to sit there and ignore the points made by Random and GrpThink? And of course, Tom's question about how far back we can go to justify invasions and occupations of countries? If you're just looking to rant and rave, you don't need to actually type things out. Just go outside and yell at the neighborhood kids to get off you damn lawn. Quit clogging the intertubes with your silliness. posted by

GrpThink, you'll get a bigger "bang" from the cranium if you tell him Condolezza Rice sat on the *BOARD OF DIRECTORS* of one of those companies when they bribed Saddam. He'll *LOVE* it. . But I believe there was at least one French company implicated as well, although not convicted. posted by

Oh, well I stand corrected (thanks anglo). It was only 8 months. Exactly how much of a pass does he get on this? I could see not holding him responsible if it were a month or two after he started, but this is just ridiculous. We all know he ignored the warnings. He got plenty of them too.

US's inaction against US companies and individuals From 2001 to 2003 the U.S. members of the U.N. Security Council approved several Iraqi oil transfers which were not part of the oil-for-food program. During Bush's administration the U.S. was a KNOWING participant in violating the program. I wonder why AmWay didn't mention this. posted by

But as you mentioned, they have not been convicted. Only the U.S. companies were. posted by

I could see not holding him responsible if it were a month or two after he started Here's where the rightwingers are hypocrites. They blame Clinton for the February 1993 WTC bombing even though it happened a month after he took office, but Bush is blameless for 9/11 that happened 8 months after he took office. posted by

Just for the record, Al Gore was talking about sanctions on Saddam not bombing and hanging him in this 15 year old clip. You know, the sanctions that were working before GWB decided to start his war.
