I'm still trying to understand Couch's resolutions on immigration reform. Why now? Are other cities and counties taking on immigration reform because the Feds won't do it?
In a nutshell he proposes to:
- Declare English as a official language in Bakersfield
- Declare that Bakersfield will never be a sactuary city for illegal immigrants
- Hold to the law that Bakersfield can/will deny services to illegal immigrants
Agree or disagree with him, at least he's making an attempt at reform which is more than you can say for the rest of the milktoasts on the city council.
