If you want to try this at home, exercise caution.  Don't attempt cat yodeling on the ferral cat who hangs around your back yard.

It's advised to only use cats which exhibit an easy going temperment!  Good luck, you're going to need it!

Audrey’s Commandments for the 21st Century

    1.  Thou shalt not commit murder - but if thy do commit murder, thou shalt forfeit with thine own life in a manner chosen by the victims family. If the victim’s family is of a forgiving nature, thou art one lucky SOB.

    2.  Thou shalt not steal  - for the day that thou steal all thy worldly possessions will be taken from thee and sold to compensate the victims of thy theft by 10 fold.

    3.  Thou shalt not commit adultery - for if thy do,  the word adulterer shall be tattooed upon thy forehead with impermanent ink for all the world (especially thy in laws) to see. The word shall last upon thy head for a year or as long as it takes thy wife to move out of state, whichever comes first.

    4.  Thou shalt not neglect nor torture thy pets - for if thee do, pork chops shall be applied to thy body in numerous, sensitive areas and thy shalt be taken and placed in a small pen with a pissed off pit bull.

    5.  Thou shalt not drive drunk - If thy drive drunk and it ends in the death of another person, thou shall be punished in the following manner. Thy extremities will be shackled, thy will be blindfolded and thy hearing impaired with headphones. Then thy will be taken to the center divider of I-5 and told to run to the other side of the freeway. If thy make it, thy shall be sentenced to life in prison.

    6.  Thy shall not masturbate - Oh wait strike that one. No point in sweating the small stuff

    7.  Thou shall remember Saturday afternoon and keep it for taking a long nap.

    8.  Thou shalt not covet thy neighbors lawn edger. But if thy do covet thy neighbors edger and "borrow" it without asking, thy shall return it as soon as they are finished with it. If the edger should get broken during the commission of thy sin, , thy shall buy thy neighbors a new (and better) edger.

    9.  Thy shall not abuse nor molest children. This is the most grievous sin in the eyes of Audrey. The day that thou molest or abuse a child you are scum and you shall have "child molester" printed upon thy head in permanent ink. Next, thy shall be transported to a barren island in the middle of the Sargasso Sea and left to thy own devices for a term of 99 years.

    10.  Thy shall treat thy fellow human being as thy would like to be treated.  That means buying them a Snickers bar every so often.  Cleaning the toilet wouldn't hurt, either.

How can there be such a variation in predicting the weather?

  • The local weather channel says that Wednesday's temperature will be 108.
  • The local paper says 101 degrees
  • The Bakersfield.com says 99 degrees
  • The Weather Channel.com says 97 degrees

That's an 11 point difference between the high estimate and the low estimate.

How do they expect people to plan their day? Do I hide under the bed with a glass of ice water and a revolving fan or go to the opening of the fair?

Wendell Potter risked everything, career, friends and his reputation to bring you this message.

Listen to a man who knows what he's talking about.

He quit the insurance industry (as former Vice President of corporate communications at CIGNA) after having a crisis of conscience when he realized what they were doing to their customers.

He thinks the plan which Senator Max Baucus has produced will make things worse not better.  He says  that the insurance companies profits will increase because they will have less controls placed on them.  It's a worse case scenario since the restraints on insurance companies were removed when the public plan was removed from the table.

No reform is better than Baucus' plan, in my opinion.

John Manley complained of fatigue, caughing fits, and pneumonia spells and now, after two years of agony, doctors at Duke University Hospital believe a small piece of plastic is to blame.

Manley, 50, apparently inhaled the 1-inch plastic fragment while eating at a Wendy's restaurant. The Wendy's logo can still be seen on the side of the plastic.

"My assistants that were working with me started spelling out these letters," said Dr. Momen Wahidi, a pulmonologist at Duke University in Durham, N.C. "They started making out that there was an A-M-B. We eventually realized that this was a hamburger, the word 'hamburger.' This was a surprise to all of us."

Manley doesn't remember feeling anything but said he does have a habit of wolfing down his food.

"I'd go in there and eat quickly and take bigger bites," he said. "I came from a big family. You eat fast if you want your food."

It's been 50 years since we've have this kind of ugliness in America.  Maybe we should take time and reflect on what happened the last time America had a communist witch hunt within her borders.

Alexander Supported Bush’s Appointment of a Manufacturing Czar. Nearly six years ago Alexander spoke on the floor of the Senate in support of President Bush’s appointment of a manufacturing jobs czar: “[President Bush] talked about appointing a sort of manufacturing job czar in the Commerce Department, which I would welcome.”

Alexander Supported Bush’s Appointment of an AIDS Czar. Alexander spoke in support of the appointment of Bush-nominated AIDS czar Randall Tobias: “Within a few weeks the Congress will be considering the nomination of Randall Tobias to be the new AIDS czar…who is not yet confirmed by the Senate. I hope he will be.”

Here's the kicker

How many people were there?

It depends on who you ask.

Glenn Beck claims a university (he forgot which one) estimated the crowd at 2 million

Michele Maklin repeated that lie

Rush Limbaugh threepeated the lie

Lou Dobbs said it was "well over a million".

The Washington DC Fire Department put the # at 75,000.

the NY Times said the # was 500,000

The parks department (who's job it is to count heads) declined to say.

By GREG BLUESTEIN, Associated Press Writer

ATLANTA (AP) -- Former President Jimmy Carter said Tuesday that U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson's outburst to President Barack Obama during a speech to Congress last week was an act "based on racism" and rooted in fears of a black president.

"I think it's based on racism," Carter said at a town hall held at his presidential center in Atlanta. "There is an inherent feeling among many in this country that an African-American should not be president."

The Georgia Democrat said the outburst was a part of a disturbing trend directed at the president that has included demonstrators equating Obama to Nazi leaders.

"Those kind of things are not just casual outcomes of a sincere debate on whether we should have a national program on health care," he said. "It's deeper than that."

Wilson, a South Carolina Republican, was formally rebuked Tuesday in a House vote for shouting "You lie!" during Obama's speech to Congress last Wednesday.

The shout came after the president commented that illegal aliens would be ineligible for federal subsidies to buy health insurance. Republicans expressed their disbelief with sounds of disapproval, punctuated by Wilson's outburst.

Tuesday's rebuke was a rare resolution of disapproval pushed through by Democrats who insisted that Wilson had violated basic rules of decorum and civility. Republicans characterized the measure as a witch hunt and Wilson, who had already apologized to Obama, insisted he owed the House no apology.

Carter called Wilson's comment "dastardly" and an aftershock of racist views that have permeated American politics for decades.

"The president is not only the head of government, he is the head of state," he said. "And no matter who he is or how much we disagree with his policies, the president should be treated with respect."

President Bush: Governor Palin “Not Remotely Prepared” For National Office

September 15, 2009

According to a new book — excerpts of which are to be published in the next issue of GQ Magazine  and detailed Tuesday — former President George W. Bush was incredulous upon learning that Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) was having trouble drawing a crowd and called his campaign a “five-spiral crash.” He also asserted that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin was “not even remotely prepared.”

The excerpts are from Matt Latimer’s soon-to-be-published book "Speech-Less Tales of a White House Survivor"

Bush seemed to feel considerable unease with the choice of McCain as well. I think he liked Romney best. (The rumor was that so did Karl Rove.) My guess was the president hadn’t so easily forgotten the endless slights he’d suffered, but there was little he could do. To him, McCain’s defeat would be a repudiation of the Bush administration, so McCain had to win… I was once in the Oval Office when the president was told a campaign event in Phoenix he was to attend with McCain suddenly had to be closed to the press…

“If he doesn’t want me to go, fine,” the president said. “I’ve got better things to do.”

Eventually, someone informed the president that the reason the event was closed was that McCain was having trouble getting a crowd. Bush was incredulous—and to the point. “He can’t get 500 people to show up for an event in his hometown?” he asked. No one said anything, and we went on to another topic. But the president couldn’t let the matter drop. “He couldn’t get 500 people? I could get that many people to turn out in Crawford.” He shook his head. “This is a five-spiral crash, boys.”

Bush also is quoted as saying Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin was “being put into a position she is not even remotely prepared for” after McCain announced her as his vice presidential running mate.

“I’m trying to remember if I’ve met her before. I’m sure I must have.” His eyes twinkled, then he asked, “What is she, the governor of Guam?”

Everyone in the room seemed to look at him in horror, their mouths agape. When Ed told him that conservatives were greeting the choice enthusiastically, he replied, “Look, I’m a team player, I’m on board.” He thought about it for a minute. “She’s interesting,” he said again. “You know, just wait a few days until the bloom is off the rose.” Then he made a very smart assessment.

“This woman is being put into a position she is not even remotely prepared for,” he said. “She hasn’t spent one day on the national level. Neither has her family. Let’s wait and see how she looks five days out.” It was a rare dose of reality in a White House that liked to believe every decision was great, every Republican was a genius, and McCain was the hope of the world because, well, because he chose to be a member of our party.

I'm not sure if I was more shocked or amused by Inga Bark's myopic view of the legal proceeding against the Tehachapi city council for their practice of beginning public meetings with a prayer.   She couldn't have taken a narrower view if she'd looked at the constitution through the opening of a straw.

She calls people who want fairness in public meetings "bullies".  She misses the point that there wouldn't have been a confrontation if Christians gave fair time to other's who are equally protected under the constitution.

Barks uses the bible to argue her case, blithely assuming that everyone will accept that source with the same reverence she does.  She'd have more credence if she agreed to examine the issue using a wider range of sources, ie the Islamic Koran, the Buddhist Tipitaka, The Sikhs Sri Guru Granth Sahib, The Muslims Qur'an.  She'd have more credence if she supported the view that an invocation could include the deities of other religions, say Kotopelli, Lakota, or Atsina, deities worshiped by American Indians.

I'm an ardent supporter of the separation of church and state.  I'd fight tirelessly to defend Inga Barks's right to worship as she chooses.  And I'd fight tirelessly to defend others from having to bend their head in deference to Inga Bark's choice of God.   Therefore, in future civic meetings we should invoke every deity worshiped by the citizens of the US or we should invoke none of them

Rob Miller

Rep. Joe Wilson's (R-S.C.) untoward outburst Wednesday night has had a positive effect for at least one person. Rob Miller, a Democrat planning to run against Wilson in 2010, has taken in more than $350,000 from over 5,000 people through the website ActBlue.com since his opponent heckled the president.

A sizable chunk of the money has come from DailyKos readers through a group called "Defeating the man who yelled 'liar' at Obama."

Miller ran against Wilson in 2008; National Journal called it the congressman's "first serious challenge."  A retired Marine and an Iraq veteran, Miller ran without any help from national Democrats as a social conservative and critic of the Bush administration.

Want to bet he gets lots of money and help from National Democrats now?  I've got my check to his campaign all made out and ready to mail.
