3 Year old male Lab - Neutered, house trained, playful, spoiled

The owner doesn't have the room for Jack. Jack is a big Labrador needing a great home with a fenced in yard and possibly a doggy door. Jack is looking for a loving family, he is great with other dogs and children. He does need his ears cleaned because of his floppy ears. We will start you off with the current medicine but you can consult your vet for alternatives. He is micro chipped, which the current owner will call and transfer the contact info when new owners take Jack.

Last time at the vet he weighed 90#.. When new owners take Jack, they will need to license him and get his shots, which he will be needing in less then a month.

He comes with his own bed, toys and a partial bag of dog food (Nutro Ultra).

Currently the owners are on vacation and they are boarding the dog with me (Bakersfield Pet Care, The Pet Nanny). I am offering this dog with an adoption fee so that I know only serious loving people will want this big baby. The owners have given me full authority to pick the great new family. I would keep him but I do not have the room because I have dogs coming and going with my overnight and daycare.

I have taken care of Jack in the past for up to a week at a time, I haven't had any problem with him except that he loves to be with people and if you are not careful that he will want to be your lap dog.

If you are interested please contact me at 661-310-1962 or email me. Jack is currently being boarded here in Bakersfield.

He loves water, these pictures were taken 7.29.07 after playing in the water. Click on one of the pictures for a larger view.

Please lets find Jack a great home.

How is he with cats?

I don't know. I or the owner has cats. But right now I have a client that is a mini schnauzer that is bossing Jack around. So I am guessing that once he knows who's boss, he is ok. He lets the schnauzer growl and bark at him and Jack does nothing. Just turns his head and walk away.

Wonderful owners....go on vacation and then dump their pet.

Jack does need a LOVING home.

Jack is not abandoned. I think she figured that it was easier to say goodbye if she didn't have to hand him over to a new owner personally. This is her baby but unfortunately some issue arrived and she must say goodbye to him. I have kept Jack a handful of times and she knows that I will do the right thing for her.

Any takers yet?  We've been looking for a friend for our 50# lab/cattle dog mix, but Jack is a little bigger than we were thinking.   Is he a barker?

Jack barks at strangers, when he is lonely (no dogs around) he might bark or howl. I tell him no and he stops. He loves to play and the other dogs I have here just doesn't. He will play forever with a ball when it is thrown for him.

I have many different dogs come and go and he has gotten along with ALL of them. From a boxer to a chi.

PLEASE, he needs a good home. Please, community, help me find Jack a great home.

Did you ever find a home for Jack?

Has he had any obedience training?
What medicine is he currently on and for what conditions?

Jack is still available, but he is in Tulare now with his owners.

He has floppy ears which get dirty, the owner has meds to kill the infection. The majority of the Labs that I have boarded has had meds for that reason. Plus Jack goes swimming a lot.

He was here for two weeks and got played with a lot, he lost some weight. At home he stays in the house all the time, he needs a loving fun home.

No obedience training.

Since Jack is now in Tulare, any interested persons will need to contact me and then I will try to contact owners. Please be patient in the process.

Jack is still available. He went back home to Tulare.. The owner is having a hard time letting him go, thats why she wanted to find him a new home while he was here.

I was disappointed that I couldn't find him a good home. There were prospects but they all fell through.

Labs can be quite happy living in smaller houses or apartments if they get exercised.. Is there any way the current owner can still keep him since she's feeling so sad?  I can imagine this is very, very difficult for her..

I AM LOOKING FOR A PLACE THAT WILL BOARD MY DOGS FOR ABOUT FOUR DAYS IN APRIL WHILE I AM ON VACATION.  I WANT TO BE ASSURED THEY WILL TAKE GOOD CARE OF THEM AS THEY ARE MY BABIES.  THEY ARE TWO TERRIERS. , ONE  OLDER JACK RUSSELL AND A YOUNG RAT TERRIER.  WOULD YOU HAPPEN TO HAVE ANY INFORMATION SO I COULD CHECK THEM OUT BEFORE TIME.

I use Bakersfield Kennel on Gibson because it's clean and reasonably priced.  If you can afford it, there's a reportedly great one on Allen road where they have their own "room" as in an actual room.  They have activities and all sorts of bennies.  The one I use is just a kennel.  I've boarded Zack there twice and while he isn't happy to be away from his window seat at home, he's safe and healthy there.

We've kenneled our dogs (Australian Shepherd and Bearded Collie) at "At the Oaks Boarding & Grooming Salon," 9887 Camino Media (665-8159) and Cowen's Pet Resort, 22110 Stockdale Hwy. (near I-5), 589-3441, and have been pleased with both.

The Oaks is an indoor facility. Cowen's has outdoor shelters with shade.
