To the realtor, Jason, who called these items nothing more than "jaywalking". You equate these serious allegations to "jaywalking"? Who else in town was "jaywalking"?

Here I am. An old, beat up, disabled person. Not much left of me for the world to use up.

But I still saw the stink floating above the potential real estate deal offered me last summer.

The agent and client just walked up to my door one afternoon. It was a cash back deal. I argued for a good while about the legality of the proposal. I refused it. And I suppose looking at todays market, it cost me close to 100,000 dollars.

The deal may have only been jaywalking, to some. But many a jay walker have meet their end, for such a small crime.

I may be short some cash today. But I am a free man. I am not a smudge, in the number 3 lane..

Where are the authorities? FBI? Ca AG? Ed Jagels?

How many more stories do we need before they wake up from their slumber?

Dang Nancy, splurge a little and pay for the Sunday paper!   :)

Two things my friend.  I DO get the Sunday paper..it's still on the lawn where any self respecting paper would be as I crawl out of bed.  The other is that not all people get, or read the paper so they may not have a clue either.  A hint in the original blog would be nice.  :-)

(I actually  got up at 7 this morning..that's sleeping in for me, but I was up late last night.  Went to see The Bourne Ultimatum.  I liked it, but then I'm a spy/action movie buff.  None of the movies have followed the books so far so why change now?)

(edited...besides..if you guys would be clearer I wouldn't have to pay for a paper.  Oh wait..yes I do..I have to have my crossword puzzles.)

These local grifter shenanigans are just a microcosm of massive fraud perpetrated on the public over the last few years. We're finding  two massive hedge funds from Bear Stearns failing, and reports that the pressure on home mortgages has now so adversely impacted the bond markets that it is in the worst shape since Reagan. Anyone remember all the S&L collapse?

And we have American Home Mortgage Company getting wiped out in a week. This company was only the 10th largest home loan lender in America a month ago, and now it is history. Much like the thousands of little home owners forced into foreclosure by predatory and risk lending practices we see the same game was being played by huge investment firms, banks, mortgage companies and bond holders and they are now all upside down. When "Mad Money" Jim Cramer goes on the air and says "it was bad last week, but this week it is appreciably worse" you know things are coming unglued in a big way.

We still have not reached bottom on home values, even in the face of such precipitous declines this year. We have not reached the peak of foreclosures by a long shot. Time will tell what the full impact on money in all markets will be, but the outlook is truly grim. The next few weeks will be very telling on how far upside down the economy is. Hold on to your seats it is going to be a very bumpy ride.

Bakobubble - how many times do you need to hear "the investigation will take time" before you stop with the "where are authorities, Jagels, FBI", etc... redundancies?

The investigation could take up to two years according to the feds....This is not going to get wiped under the rug!

Until they don't take anymore time. The day I see the perp walk is the day I will no longer ask for this investigation.

This has been going on for so long - 2-3 years- and it was so out in the open a child could close this investigation.

Adampayne-  I think you are right on the money. Get ready for some serious turbulence here!

Bubble _ I understand you wanting the perp walk so you can move on with your life, but I assure you the wait will be well worth it!! :)

Sounds like they already got theirs, and a whole lot of other peoples' as well.

Will they:

1)  keep their ill-begotton lucre and suffer no loss of freedom?

2) Or lose the wealth but not their freedom.

3) Or lose both their wealth and freedom.

God will sort this out. My vote would be for door number three.

Hello, My name is Brian and I'm a Bakersfield City Employee currently serving in Iraq.  About two years before my deployment I thought of buying a home.  EVERYWHERE I went to explore to possibility of buying a home I was faced with generally the same question "So..uhm..do you make any other income?" to which I replied "nope" "Do you paint houses or mow lawn's?"  I knew what they wanted from me..In there winking tones.  They wanted more income (on paper).  At first I thought what the hell, give them what they want and get that starter house.  You know the "American Dream" . Then it occurred to me that If I give them what they want I could be struggling month to month in the hopes of an improving housing market.  I walked away from the idea with a clean conscious and continued to rent. But secretly I sobbed as others re-financed and bought toy -haulers and big screen TVs.

Well here I am in Iraq, Now married and serious about buying a home in July when I return. To most the housing market is a disaster and getting worse.  For my wife and I it is a blessing and it's getting better.  With my same income, and only car insurance and a cell-phone bill to pay now,  I can currently get nearly  twice the house at the same price as before!.  And who knows, perhaps the seller will throw in a free big-screen out of desperation.

I know this might seem insensitive to the people who played the game and lost.  But this is America!  The Amarican dream is not about easy money  and finding loop holes.  Its about doing the right things,  leagaly AND moraly and always having faith that the guy in the white hat will come out on top....(Even if it takes 3 years)

Thank you for your ear, Brian
