Our Secret Ingredients!
My sister Jane makes each candle by hand here at the Glory Bee facility in Kern County, California. She works in a wonderful outdoor kitchen that is only about 50 feet from the huge beekeeping warehouse — a good thing when it comes to easily picking up the big chunks of sweet-smelling beeswax, a not-so-good thing when it comes to the bees smelling her melting their wax and deciding to come try to take it back! :) But she is getting used to the loud buzzing and having a wonderful time. Jane has been a professional dessert chef and created cheesecakes and chocolate cakes for restaurants. She always made each dessert as if she was making it for her own family to eat and she is bringing the same approach to Baking Candles. — except she's making them as if they’re for her family to smell! Last night I was watching her make Apple Pie Candles., and she decided that some golden raisens would smell great along with the apples and cinammon sticks and other spices…..so she started adding them. The night before that — she got the idea for adding a little candied lemon peel to the Apple Pie Candle….and a smidge of cinnnamon to the Chocolate…and just a little pure maple syrup in the Pumpkin. We have always teased Jane about not being able to make the same thing twice — she will always show up at holidays with these incredible desserts and we say “Enjoy it while you can — you’ll never see it again!” So when it comes to creating Baking Candles, every night is different and every candle is different — the only promise that we can make is that each one will smell wonderful. In fact — as I watch her stir all these wonderful ingedients together with the fragrant, golden beeswax, it smells so good I have more than once almost tasted it! But the real “secret ingredients” aren’t the maple syrup or candied lemon peel. I think what makes these candles so special is that they are each made with love and joy and with the intention of being good for those who buy them. Scientifically, the beeswax will clean your indoor air and calm you with its scent. Emotionally? Well, the smell of pie takes us to happy places in our hearts! We hope that in offering these Baking Candles we can send some joyous energy from our “house” to yours! Check out our website at www.bakingcandles.com! 0 comments from 0 users
