Congradulations to all the promoted officers and especially to my Son In Law James Michael Reed.

You are the best.

It's great to see that the boys club were kind enough to promote a nice little gal to detective.  I'm just assuming Lonnie is a female first name.  Can anyone confirm this?  I surely wouldn't want to give credit where credit isn't due.

Also, since they are "civil servants", is there access to information regarding the diversity of who's been promoted as well as the recruits?

Lastly, I applaud any individual for joining the B.P.D.  In all seriousness, civilians are the first to criticize; yet, we're the first to them call for help.  Thank you for doing a job most wouldn't have the stomach or tolerance for.

My only beef is the absence on the part of the department showcasing officers who fall in to the "diversity" category.  If this has been done or covered already, my apologies...I just always happen to see ONLY  males roll up at the stop lights next to me in the cop cars.

It was either promote her while she is on the list, or pass her over then get sued, promote her anyway and pay a big lawsuit.

Lonnie Mills is man. So now what do you have to say for yourself, anonymous?

I was speaking in general terms, I don't know a soul on this list, I just know that is how it worked at the Sheriff's department. They are affraid to pass over a woman.  The last lawsuit was huge.

The KCSO has never compared to BPD, GENERALLY speaking!

OldBlue56, I hope that last comment was meant to be amusing, otherwise it just sounds sophomoric.

OldBlue, can you explain how Irma Carson (a person who can't spell her own name) managed to promote if it wasn't out of fear of a lawsuit?

Irma has always had God on her side as all we good people have in Bakersfield

I would love to know the answer to that. She never took a promotions test in her life. Have you ever tried to have an intelligent conversation with the woman? It's impossible. Whenever she gets into territory that she doesn't have a clue about, which is almost always, she pulls the race card.

My comment about BPD vs. KCSO was just some good natured humor... But the city does pay better than the county! LOL

OldBlue, I thought that was the case, just checking though.  As for Irma, apparently the dept. policy on uniform standards also didn't apply to her. I saw her in V.I.P. Uniforms one time wearing her cap at a rakish angle pinned to her medium afro while wearing high heels with the toes curled-up and her sidearm holster pushed so far forward on her gunbelt that it nearly covered her crotch! What an embarassment! How did she expect to chase badguys while wearing high heels? I guess that's a rhetorical question. No one expected her to chase badguys! I read an article in The Bak. Californian where they profiled her and made mention of her wearing high heels on patrol. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it for myself. She made Lt. before she retired, didn't she?

Irma Carson was a police officer?   When was that?

She was a police officer from 1969 to 1988, retiring as a sergeant.

Any idea why it wouldn't be listed here..?  http://www.ci.bakersfield.c... I prolly didn't dig enough.  Work keeps getting in the way of my computer stuff.  I need to change careers.  :-)
