So, I was looking for local sales online and happened to find this website:

http://www.glamgirlboutique...

This links to the Sale items, which has Seven for all Mankind, Frankie B and Joie!

The bio on the person who owns it says: Her name is Robbie French, that she was born here and is a designer. She has a few of her own designs on the website as well. Her website has been featured in magazines and she has all the hot trends right now!

So, Shabby Girls is a children's boutique downtown. They have lots of adorable clothes for boys & girls and right now, they are having a sale on Fall/Winter Fashions at 40-50% off. Check out their website at www.shabbygirls.com and see some of the adorable clothes they sell!

The coolest thing about this boutique is that they host Girly Girl Parties! You can take your daughter and her friends for fun or for her birthday or any special occasion! It includes a Shabbydo hair/makeover and fun accessories. She can have a Glamour Girl or Pretty as a Princess or Rock it out party! There are also party upgrades available! Bound to be a hit!

I'm frequently amazed by some of the interesting things we have in our own backyard here in Bakersfield.

One such place is HowCool.com, a local storefront that has a sizable e-commerce business. The site contains a wide variety of items, ranging from clothes (including lots of sexy wear) and handbags to home&garden stuff and novelty toys. My favorite is the Crazy Cat Lady Action Figure for a mere $11.70 (shipping and handling not included)

Bakotopia.com recently did a fun story on the business, which is closing in on its 10th anniversary with 35 employees.

If you're looking for a different kind of gift that doesn't scream "mall" check out HowCool.

WARNING: Some items on the HowCool site are of an adult nature. If you're under 18 or easily offended, don't visit the site.

JCPenney is having a big sale in the women's department. I just bought myself $400 worth of clothes for $200. Most items are Buy 1, Get 1 free meaning it's a great time to stock up on the basics.

If you don't have time to go to the mall, I also discovered a way to get discounts online. Check out a site called RetailMeNot.com. For J.C. Penney, it tells you by using the code "Santa" at checkout online, you can save 30%! You can search the site for your favorite online stores, and they will most likely have a discount.

If not, Google:the store name + promo code
There are tons of sites that also have codes or special links.

I wish I knew about this years ago!

One of my great frustrations with online sites, particularly those offering e-commerce, is the difficulty in finding phone numbers for customer service where you can reach a live human.  (Disclaimer:  bakersfield.com needs to improve in this area too; it's on my to-do list).

But thanks to a story on Slate.com that documents one person's quest to reach a human at iTunes, I found a link to Get Human 500. This is a listing of phone numbers for a variety of companies that allegedly will put you in contact with a human. Scroll down the list and you'll find lots of listings for stores and online businesses.

You might want to bookmark this site for future use.

I stumbled across this while checking out Borders: Personalized gift cards.

For $4.95, you can personalize a gift card by uploading your own photo and message, and attaching your own dollar amount to the card. I didn't go through the whole process, but the card-creation process was pretty straightforward.

I know the Post Office offers personalized stamps, but I was unaware that you can personalize gift cards. Are you aware of any other stores that offer personalized gift cards?

So today's the day! Everyone knows it's the biggest shopping day of the year and the sales are outrageous, but is it really worth all the craziness? Is it worth waiting in line for hours?

Personally, I love this day and I'm a wait in line at midnight person. How about you? What time did you get up to go shopping, or did you even go at all? If so, what kind of deals did you get?

Have loved ones out of town you're shopping for? If you're like me, always running a bit late as I'm searching around town for the perfect gift and stressing if it will arrive on time.

According to the USPS(http://www.usps.com/holiday...), you need to mail it by December 15th if it's a parcel post package or by December 20th if it's a card or priority mail to make if by Christmas within the US. If you are mailing to a millitary base or internationally, deadlines are December 4th or 11th. Check the guidelines on the USPS site.

The Postal Service expects to deliver about 20 billion cards, packages and letters between Thanksgiving and Christmas. It predicts that the volume processes each day will reach a peak of about 1 billion on the busiest day, December 17th. (http://www.chron.com/disp/s...)

Yikes!!!

Happy Thanksgiving!
