FBI agent testifies about bugs
Deputy District Attorney Lisa Green calls to the stand Rich Novelli. He is a special agent with the FBI.
On July 16, 2003, he came into contact with the Dodge Neon. He took many photos of the car inside and out. He also removed some of the seatcovers to reveal more of the interior. The prosecution believes Brothers used this rented car to drive from Ohio where he was visiting his brother to Bakersfield to kill his family. The prosecutor must prove that there were enough miles on the Dodge Neon to cover a trip to California. On July 22, 2003, he was called to retreive bugs on the vehicle, anything that had wings and legs. Green is expected to call a bug expert who will testify that bugs were found on the car that are only found in the western United States. The other people who drove the car say they were never in the western United States. The defense has said that some of the bugs could really be found in other areas of the country. They tried to pull the bugs off with tweazers, but this did not maintain the bugs’ bodies and legs well. They took from the radiator and air filter. I hope Lisa Green doesn't use the same bug expert she used in the Rollins case a few years back. But, it helped get a conviction for Rollins. why not try it again for Brothers. I am siding with the defense, birds migrate why not bugs. Is it possible that these bugs could have come from another part of the United States? Probably, reasonable doubt.

There is a sad irony in the fact that one of the victims worked so hard for Rollins in his murder trial.
