LEGALIZE DRUGS?
Do you think drugs should be legalized like alcohol and cigarettes are? I do because alcohol and cigarettes are no different from drugs; they are considered drugs, too, because they are also mind-altering substances.

Although Mr. Marella was in the wrong for what he did, the Bakersfield Police Department was still wrong for beating the hell out of him.

There is a new web site in town called WWW.BAKERSFIELDGRAPEVINE.COM   Get involved in the Bakersfield community; the site is similar to MySpace, but it is for residents of Bakersfield.  There are alot of things to do on this website including writing your own Blog, taking quizes, taking polls, live chat, free classified (on a temporary basis), forums, and groups.  Check it out and then refer it to a friend.  It is still new and so we are still trying to build it up.

There is a Polygamist colony in Texas.  Apparently, the children (around 400 of them) have been removed from the colony.  The women who spoke on the news could barely talk and did not answer some questions; my guess is becauase they would be punsihed for answering the questions from the media.  Those children are being sexually abused because the young girls are being forced to have sex with grown men.  The men have more than one wife; I think the men in those polygamist colonies are a bunch of child molesting perverts.

I don't use drugs any more; I've been sober since 06-06-06!!  I am not related to Leonard, but I m afriend of his.  My hope is that when he gets out of prison, he will turn his life around and become a productive citizen; there is still hope for him.

Just to remind you . . .  No one is saying that Leonard Marella is an angel; he has had his share of run in's with the law, however, ther Bakersfieldf Police Department was also wrong in the way they treated him during the arrest.

Mr. Marella was already down on the ground when the officers began beating him with their police batons, tasering him in the face, kicking him in the face, and allowing their police dog to bite him all up and down both legs.

Leonard Marella is not an angel, but he did not deserve this.  He will be filing a civil rights law suit against the city of Bakersfield.

He has a video tape (Taken by Xavier Zamora) and several witnessess who saw the arrest on March 11, 2008.

Hey all you Bakersfield residents:  Check out the new Bakersfield website at WWW.BAKERSFIELDGRAPEVINE.COM  it is similar to MySpace, but made specifically for residents of Bakersfield.  It is really interesting and fun, but we need more people to sign up for it.  Take a look at it; I think you will like it.

On March 11, 2008, Leonard Marella was arrested in the 100 block of Wilson Ave. in the Oildale area.

Upon coming into contact with police Mr. Marella ran.  The reason he ran is because he knew he had a warrant issued for his arrest for a probation violation and Mr. Marella assumed the police were looking for him, however, they were not.  According to the Bakersfield Police Department (BPD), they were looking for another man whom they said fit Mr. Marella's description, however, they later discovered, they had the wrong man.

After the BPD had Mr. Marella on the ground with his hands cuffed behind his back, they proceeded to beat him with their police batons, kick him in the face to the point of knocking out his teeth, taser him in the face with a Taser gun, and allow their police dog to bite Mr. Marella all up and down both legs.  Mr. Marella later had to go to the Emergency Room at Kern Medical Center because the dog bites on his legs had become infected.

We are suppoed to be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.  The police are supposed to be here to Serve and Protect; not beat the living heck out of the suspect.

The entire incident was captured on tape.  A young man named Xavier Zamora saw what was happening and ran to get his video recorder; the police arrested Mr. Zamora for Obstruction of Justice; Mr. Zamora did not interfer in what the police were doing; all he did was take a video of the incident, but apparently, the police did not like being video taped.  Mr. Zamora was within his rights to take video pictures.  The police were very unproffessional and rude to Mr. Zamora.

Right now, there is a case going on in Kern County Courts where 3 Kern County Deputies are being accussed of beating another Kern County inmate to death.

Yes, police brutality does happen in Kern County!!!

The death of 9 year old Zane Anthony Newton is very sad; my love, prayers, and thoughts go out to his friends and family during this very difficult time.

Recently, the Bakersfield Police Department (BPD) used excessive force in making an arrest.

I admit the suspect who was arrested is no angel, however, he did not deserve to be hit, kicked, tasered in the face, and beaten with police batons.  He had bruises on his back, his face was so beaten to where he was almost unrecognizable, his teeth were knocked out, and he was tasered in the face with a police taser gun.

Yes, the BPD did this all in the name of "Serving and Protecting!"  Since when does serving and protecting mean beating up the suspect?  The purpose of our law enforcement is to serve and protect; not beat up the suspect.

The supect was in no way a harm or threat to anyone.  There is no excuse for this type of brutality!
