ChicoEsquela - > MOO! -> I'm Fed Up!
I'm Fed Up!

I’m sorry as I can be, but I’ve just had a snootful of this! I got up to go over to West side ranchos and my wife (who was already up and stirring around) had the tube blaring already, said to me: “Look at those cops kicking those guys! That’s awful!”

I said back to her “Yeah but we don’t know from a clip what lead up to what you are seeing honey, always remember that. They had one of their guys murdered a few days before, and we don’t know what the circumstances are!” ….. To which she rejoindered: “Yeah but it wasn’t these guys!”…

“OK, fair enough. I’ll take your word for it, but I still say we need all the facts…..”

Now, you can call me a “COP Groupie”, a panderer to LE, whatever you like. But I’m sick and tired of the rush to judgement on the other side of the knife blade in these cases. I’ve been on both sides and I know this, I’ve never been mistreated by Cops, and I’ll allow its probably because I WAS COMPLIANT! Yes Sir, No Sir….. Seemed simple to me! So now you can call me an “authority wuss” too…. Go ahead, I could care less.

But I live in a silly society now. One that lionizes (and makes increasingly rich) people like “Ice Tea” who years ago came out with a great ( c) rap song about killing a cop, and what do we do? Make him a TV star on a show about cops for Chrissakes! One that puts out video games that allow you to kill a cop. On and on the goofiness goes……. I’m tired of it!

After Rodney King I just happened to be having breakfast with Sheriff Bud over to the West of me. I just made a comment about the fact that King might just have deserved it and that those PR-24 wielding cops must not have been really trying to hurt this guy (a really big guy who I always thought favored Karl Malone BTW) and he about bit my head off! He told me they were wrong and should be (would be) punished for their wrong doing in the case! So much for LeoPanfilo’s “Blue Wall of Silence”, eh? I shut my yap and feared I had just ended a great friendship!

Even OldBlue on here said “lets wait and see the facts as they come out!”…. Amen to that! But I have to tell ya, when I see these video clips I just have to wonder what lead up to what you are seeing. Just watch some episodes of COPS and see how the prevailing attitude amongst their “clients” is “you lay a hand on me and I’m gonna sue!”……. And I see it the worst amongst so-called minority groups – be they black, Hispanic, whatever. If its what is referred to on here an “08’er” or “Redneck” then its fair game to pile on the offender. If its not, woe be unto you if you take the Cops side (OK Timec here’s your cue to pile on me) or even keep an open mind until the investigation plays out. Of course to the BillyClone’s and Leo1’s, there is no need for that. The investigators are part of the “conspiracy” too and of course the Cops will just “get off”………

BS! If you don’t think Cops are the most scrutinized members of our society today then you have been livin in a cave, under a rock! Every action these guys took will be studied and they will suffer the consequences if they were wrong – you have to know that if you have even an ounce of gray matter……

I remember when I was put into a situation where the public was disenchanted with what we were doing in something called a “police action”…… Sure there were bad guys in the Army – probably a lot more %-wise than now (a bunch of my cohorts were conscripted and didn’t even want to be there in the first place) and the bad one’s actions were brush rollered on to all of us! And by the same sort who now take every op to just blame the Cops first!

With all the gangs in effect in today’s world if you don’t think we are at war with the criminal elements in this country then you are firmly ensconced with cranium in sand and 4th point of contact waving in the breeze! And I’ll tell you what – in this war I know which side I’m going to be on! Sure – investigate this incident and prosecute those who are proven to be in the wrong – But man, in this particular war – I KNOW which side I’m going to end up on…… THOSE WE HIRE TO KEEP THE PEACE!

So Pan, Billy, Timey, all of you – bring it on …….. I don’t mind! But I’m pushin my chips to the side of those we are so quick to jump on -- those we decided to spend our money on trying to stem the ever increasing tide of scumbags who want to take yer stuff or yer life. We give them the authority to take our freedom or life – and that’s as it has to be in war. Sure -- Lets wait and see all the facts play out – but in the interim why not (if you feel you have to take a side early on) stand in support of our employees -- the Cops!

There are some memorials goin on down there even today – why don’t we spend our time supporting those who gave the ultimate sacrifice doing what we hired them to do? All give some, but some gave ALL! Wise up people – show some support to the GOOD GUYS for a change. You’ll be better for it!

I’ll get back to my friends now……….. It’s a mooooving experience!

timec, I am sure "hood rich" to you is a "new" 2004 Cadillac, new pink house slippers, (for those dress up trips out to WalMart), dinner at Fabious's Bar-b-que, and paying off your cellular phone bill.

tmec,

It has EVERYTHING to do with it..

In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence.

Everyone accused of a criminal act in this country is entitled to a trial by an impartial jury. They are entitled to confront the sitnesses against them. They are entitled to present witnesses in their own defense. Thay are entitled to legal counsel.

It doesn't matter if they are caught with a smoking gun in their hand and a hundred video cameras catch them in the act of pulling the trigger. They are entitled to a trial by an impartial jury.

That means that once they are secured in Police custody, the legal process takes over. Cops do NOT have the option of administering punishment on the spot, regardless of the crime, regardless of the circumstances.

Timec:

Sixth Amendment - Rights of Accused in Criminal Prosecutions

In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence.

The criminals have their 6th amendment rights, of course

So do the cops..............

The cops will have Peace Officer Bill of Rights and will be subject to Lybarger, etc. but they have their rights too.

Lets just remember that the court of public opinion is one thing, Dept pronouncements another, and the 6th Amendment and court of law still another.

Let the facts (other than Timec's and PR pronouncements by the Dept) all come forth...........
