I never understood the " in kind response to power". If Hamas launches ten missiles into Israel I guess Israel is supposed to respond with only ten or something similar. BS. I think if someone threatens you and has the means to carry it out you wipe out that capability. Same thing in everyday life, you punch me and I will do my best to make sure you can never do it again. I'm proud we are an ally of Israel. posted by

I am not sure Mason has heard about Christian Zionism. Anglo, in everyday life if someone tries to punch you and you do everything in your power to make sure he never does it again, you would be arrested and prosecuted. There is a point where you cross self-defense and it is considered assault. posted by

Jermox you are right. There is a point and that is after the threat has been dealt with, in everyday life. The Israel example is not everyday life. If a country sent a missile our way I would hope we would take them completely out of the picture. I agree that I would not go so far as to kill someone unless I thought their intention was to harm me, mine or even someone else. I would try to make them put me way down on their list of targets. Tom, I agree with Chico, I think your trying to steer this into a place that IMO has nothing to do with the situation the Israelis are in. But feel free to explain. I'm always open to education, really.

Wow, thanks anglo. I just wish to point out your analogy may not be as good as you first thought. As far as Israel is concern, I have known a few Israelis who have made it known to me that Israel may not be the innocent nation that Mason is making them out to be. That doesn't me they deserve to be bombed. It just means that many of their actions may not have helped bring about the coexistence that Mason is applying they have always been doing. Of course, I do not spend time studying this conflict so I cannot in any way handle this argument. I would really just have to concede any points given by those who would disagree with me.
