It's too bad to see our soldiers being dragged into this and being fed bad information just as they were when they were serving this President. One of the kids in the ad says he saw Al-Queda decimated. Since Al-Queda isn't in Iraq (Al-Queda in Iraq is, but they are a different group that isn't related) in any serious numbers, you have to wonder why he'd say that. Whoever is funding this group obviously doesn't have any respect for the facts or even General Petraeus who would never claim the things this group is pretending to believe. posted by

I'm sure you are an expert on Al Queda (and its various viral replications and mutations) Tom. You can read all day about something (especially with a natural proclivity toward those of similar bent) but I'd rather listen to those that have actually been there.............. posted by

If Congress declared the surge worked, what would it accomplish? Would it provide veterans with better physical and mental health care? Would it expand the GI Bill? No, it's solely a PR campaign that does not provide the troops with any benefits. The decline in violence had very little to do with the surge. It was Iraqi militia groups who took action into their own hands. I think they teamed up against Sunni extremists and arranged a truce with another militia.

Another rant about another useful idiot. http://www.youtube.com/watc... I hope we never have to fight another big war. Between Ried and some of those on here, they'll roll through us like scat through a goose. posted by

Once again, our proud veterans speak up with the real truth......... truth to power........ in spades! Thanks Chico but this is just election year nitpicking and everyone knows it. I get so sick of people using video to make a point or to somehow express their point of view. What's the problem with speaking for yourself? 99.9999% of the video it isn't captioned so I'm finding more and more and more "blogs" where a link to a video is posted and, hey, that's that's it! It's like, "Hey watch this video and hey, take that and hey, what they said on the video is what I believe." It's gotten to where nobody really has an argument. They just have a video. posted by

Lets dont forget HM is deaf..so uncaptioned videos are very frustrating for him to even consider absorbing ... no matter how informative it may be....therefore he despises them and regards them a useless tool. While those of us that feel they can convey a more substantial point to the discussion by going to the trouble to locate and share one, I certainly feel its a higher tech approach.. HM prefers to write a book in his responses beyond the point of boring an individual that stumbles across one of his verbal vomiting sessions Enjoyed the VID Chico..keep em coming posted by

sioux, Although some may disagree with HusbandMaterial, not wife, mind you, there is a point to what he is saying: Videos without a deaf component leave a part of the population out of the loop. I am not sure how to resolve this. Should we ban any video that doesn't have deaf interpretaters as part of the presentation? Actually, I am on the side of deaf people here. I want them to be included in our debates. I think we need to call for an upgrade to include this. This could be a difficult proposition to implement, but why not try? I like it and hope the Californian Techies can find a way. Good luck! posted by

Well, unlike Bidenpluggs, HM doesn't just talk because he likes the sound of his voice, I guess. But HM, if you think for a minute that I think that or any other vid clip is the be all and end all of any issue then you are more than just deaf............ posted by

KAtak..they dont pay them enough to convert all the videos out there to captioned..thats an impossible task..you cant ban a video simply because its uncaptioned..the internet isnt that advanced yet..I doubt either I nor HM will even be alive when that glorious day comes.. IF I see something written in Japanese I will move on to the next page..its as simple as that.. posted by

HusbandMaterial, As I read here, and my personal emails indicate, there is a majority that has a different view than yours. It is one thing to be in a fringe group, but it is entirely another to attempt making a fringe view majoritarian, by fiat of law. Even so, you have a good thing if you support deaf technologies since it is an easy leap to say, and say well, that people want everyone to be heard, deaf included. Other than this, some arguments fail since their end is fatal, as random argues. Sorry, it doesn't get any better than this. But, do you understand why? Likely, you don't, but Chico does. posted by

HM -- I can sympathize with being deaf BTW......... Years of shooting without proper protection, etc. have left me where I turn TV up so loud my wife bought her own remote to turn it down, especially when it gets to a channel that is louder than others (why does cable do that?) Wife gets pissed as I'm all the time going "what?" Funny though....... I can hear whining clear under foreman's hooch (50 yards away) when his ol cow dog has a new set a pups..... probably cause it then means I'm gonna have to be on his butt for weeks to give them away........... I can hear a lost calf on the other side of a hill too......... grab ATV and go put him back on right side of the fence (wish you could do that with Dems -- LOL!)
