Could it be a woman will show us the way?

Could it be the rock star Barrack and his old political hack are  "Palin" in comparison to the real party of  "change" ???

I've always liked Sarah Palin.

I hope its her. She knows more about energy than all the Dems rolled in to one!

{faint praise alert}

posted by ChicoEsquela on Aug 29, 2008 at 06:55 AM

..........Of course, Palin would be the VP pick, there to help and learn, not the person running for POTUS, who has to pick a guy who said that Barry was not qualified to be president to get some experience on the ticket. And she has still done more then Barack during her short time in office. Check out the Wikipedia entry. It is a pretty good one, and she has a pretty good story herself, which does not include consistently hanging around racists, unrepentant terrorists, and die-hard Marxists.

Her life story makes Barrack look like an afirmative action empty suit even more.

Her oldest son (infantry) is soon to deploy in Iraq BTW.......

I got this of msn.com a few minutes ago.  You might have called this one, Chico.

DENVER - Two of the leading candidates to be John McCain's vice presidential pick — Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney — appear to be out of the running, NBC News reported Friday.

Pawlenty has been told he won't be chosen by McCain, according to NBC's David Gregory. And Romney won't be at today's Dayton, Ohio, rally with McCain, NBC's Chuck Todd reported. Romney spent Thursday courting donors in California.

Earlier in the day, Pawlenty downplayed his chances.

"I'm not going to be there. I plan to be at the state fair. You can draw your conclusion from that," Pawlenty said on his weekly call-in radio show on WCCO-AM in Minneapolis.

Friday's developments raised the possibility that others, such as former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge or Democrat-turned-independent Sen. Joe Lieberman of Connecticut, could be named, or that McCain could choose a wild card candidate from any number of prospects.

'Hockey mom'
As the political community turned desperate for clues, speculation moved toward Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the so-called "hockey mom" credited with reforms of her out-of-the-way state.

A Gulfstream IV from Anchorage, Alaska, flew into Middletown Regional Airport in Butler County near Cincinnati about 10:15 p.m. Thursday, said Rich Bevis, the airport's manager. He said several people came off the plane, including a woman and two teens, but there was no confirmation of who was aboard.

"They were pretty much hustled off. They came right down the ramp, jumped in some vans here and off they went," Bevis said.

"It was all hush, hush."

You might have called this one, Chico

Some are saying she is still in AK. That it was another woman with two teenage kids on the Gulfstream.

All I kow is, I hope to God its her.

She is great!

I've been talking her up the last few weeks, but was giving up hope.

She is the right kind of change. Meaningful, knowledgeable energy policy change.

I don't know...it fits Republican M.O.  Kind of how Nixon got a million $'s and Teamster support for his re-election, and Hoffa got his pardon.  Late night meeting at a regional airport, somewhat out of the public eye.

And I agree...we've had worse V.P. candidates than Gov. Palin.

posted by ChicoEsquela on Aug 29, 2008 at 07:05 AM

And man, is she easy on the orbs.......................

posted by MostlyRussky on Aug 29, 2008 at 07:17 AM

Hmmm, on the city council of Podunktown, Alaska...then mayor of Podunktown, Alaska...and now not even two years served as Governor of Alaska?  Hooboy, that's a whole lotta experience!  Sounds like just the person who can help fix the mess this country's in.

But it's nice that she's attractive and is a lifetime NRA member.  Got to have your priorities straight when you pick a VP.

posted by ChicoEsquela on Aug 29, 2008 at 07:24 AM

Yeah Russky -- She didn't spend her time  "organizing" the Innuits into blubber subsidies.

She's just had real executive level experience

http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...

There are priorities and then there are priorities. If yours center around expatiating your  "white guilt" then go for it......................

posted by MostlyRussky on Aug 29, 2008 at 07:33 AM

"Real executive level experience."  Uh-huh, just keep telling yourself that.  Oh, there's that state trooper scandal she's involved in for misuse of executive power--is that what you're referring to?

BTW, I'm not "expatiating" anything.  Maybe "expiate" is the word you were looking for?

I've always liked Sarah Palin

You couldn't have known about her for very long considering she's only beein in the national spotlight for one year.

You might have called this one, Chico

Anyone could have called this one. All you had to do is follow the news reports. Palin's name was leaked by McSame's campaign long before Chico posted it.

Palin just had a child with disabilities. So now she's running for VP? So much for conservative family values. She's going to leave the raising of the child to others.

Wow, I didn't know Barrack hung out with terrorists and Marxists. I'm gonna have to change my choice now.

I knew McCain would pick somebody to balance the ticket, but I didn't think it would be by sex. I thought he would go the youth route and pick Strom Thurmond. Then someone pointed out to me that Strom is in the big plantation in the sky now.

posted by antiextremism on Aug 29, 2008 at 07:41 AM

So if McCain is the real choice for change, does that mean you think Bush was one big giant clusterflock Chico?

posted by Shwaine on Aug 29, 2008 at 07:46 AM

It wasn't that suprising. As soon as a woman was on the short list, you had to know she was going to be chosen to court the more fickle of the Hillary supporters. She was far more likely than Liberman, who would not be acceptable to many Republicans. This was the best strategical choice to woo the superficial voters.

posted by randomfactor on Aug 29, 2008 at 07:48 AM

Wonder if the independent probe of her office on corruption accusations will be done by November?  Or will they "hold" the final report until November 5?

You and Pluggs Biden can sling away!

Pale & Palin '08?   But I thought McBush went for blondes?

posted by randomfactor on Aug 29, 2008 at 07:56 AM

Nope, just laughing out loud.    Well, now we know why McBush didn't announce during Obama's speech:  he had to call his first pick and rescind his choice.

Or did the first pick call *HIM* and say "on second thought, I think I'll pass."

posted by ChicoEsquela on Aug 29, 2008 at 08:01 AM

Johnny boy just likes women.

So do I.

So sue us!

She knows more about energy policy (real energy policy) than anyone out there right now.

She was a brilliant pick -- and you can sling all the mud you want at her......... her son is deploying (go infantry) to Iraq soon and husband is an operator for BP.

She's the real deal -- unlike the Messiuhh & Mullet on the other side!

posted by samheath on Aug 29, 2008 at 08:06 AM

You and I both know Chico along with millions of others there was the hope of this happening but almost too good to be true, and now that it has happened Obama is really toast and the far left is hating it and really going to ramp up their propaganda hate machine.

Most of us don't have to offer the vice-presidency to get 'em, though.  On second thought,  giving out SecState worked for Shrub, so...

Of course it won't be called that.

Think Hillary suffered from benign disguised misogyny? Just wait until the RF, M&M, TSM attack machines get geared up!

Palin's office has issued a denial:

Spokeswoman Says Palin Is In Alaska: The governor's office throws water on rumors that she will be McCain's surprise pick.

Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., is in Dayton, Ohio, awaiting a high noon event at which the campaign has said the Republican contender will announce his running mate.

But one person who will not be there: Palin. The Governor's spokesperson, Sharon Leighow, tells ABC News she's going to the State Fair in Anchorage, Alaska.

......AND A WOMAN WILL SHOW THEM THE WAY.........

posted by randomfactor on Aug 29, 2008 at 08:19 AM

Women are far and away my favorite gender, Chico.  Most of my good friends happen to be, as the old line goes.  Up until recently I could honestly say that my best friend in the world was a woman.

Palin's office seems to be denying she's the pick; guess we'll see in what--an hour or so?

But if McBush thinks he can pull Clinton supporters away by picking "a woman" as a running mate, wait'll they figure out the true message:

"See?  Our vice-presidential pick is *JUST LIKE* Senator Clinton.  They both have bajingoes and *EVERYTHING.*"

posted by NancyII on Aug 29, 2008 at 08:20 AM

If the left starts a smear sexist campaign based on McCain choosing a woman they're going to piss of a huge number of people....namely voters on both sides

posted by randomfactor on Aug 29, 2008 at 08:22 AM

What does it say if the *CHIEF* reason McBush picked her is her lack of a  "Y" chromosome, Nancy?

Not that he's officially picked her yet.  After last night, he has to drum up interest somehow.

posted by TSM on Aug 29, 2008 at 08:23 AM

Palin is anti-choice. She'll get the woman vote that was already going to McSame and a few others.

Not enough to make a difference though.

After last night, he has to drum up interest somehow.

McSame is hoping to have 15,000 people show up in Ohio today.

According to the Californian, that's five times his largest crowd so far in the campaign.

While Obama is packing them in, McSame can't even fill up the lobby of the Holiday Inn Select on Truxtun.

posted by NancyII on Aug 29, 2008 at 08:25 AM

You fellas better come up with better ammo than that.

By the way, this business of her having children and someone else raising them?  I do believe she has a husband to help with that chore.  Just as male candidates have wives to help raise theirs.

posted by NancyII on Aug 29, 2008 at 08:34 AM

They all pick their sidekick for different reasons.  Obama needed age and experience on his ticket..something he couldn't supply himself.

My guess is McCain needed someone on his ticket who could dispel the "sameness" you guys love to talk about.  Not to mention picking up a lot of swing votes left hanging from Hillary's campaign.

Find other ammo besides the "Y chromosome" if you want to present a credible argument.  Otherwise you're just insulting that womans intelligent....and ours.

posted by antiextremism on Aug 29, 2008 at 08:34 AM

Obama is toast because McCain chose a woman? Well, as long as she stays in the kitchen I suppose.

Obama may be toast if voters believe McCain's view that people that make under 80,000 bucks a year don't understand taxes anyway.

This coming from a guy who thinks people that make 4 million a year are middle class, and still believes Czechoslovakia exists. I think he may be visiting our troops in Mesopotamia soon.

posted by TSM on Aug 29, 2008 at 08:36 AM

I do believe she has a husband to help with that chore

They have five young kids, one of which is disabled (Downs syndrome, I believe).

The father is not going to be able to handle that alone.

While governor of Alaska, Palin's appeal was that she went home EVERY night. She won't be able to do that as VP, meaning someone is going to have to help raise their children. Some family values.

could dispel the "sameness" you guys love to talk about

Palin has voiced support for Bush's policies. She's as same as McSame.

Sam/Kat/ whoever~ that is funny coming from one of the biggest  whiners on these blogs~ if not for your angst over "the Old " days and how all is doom and gloom what have you got? Nothing positive except for every once in the great while.Hate~ you "unfriend " me because i said I have watched how you deal with people and it appears you are unfair? Not that you were but i had questions.

When a fellow poster here had a personal tragedy occur you were noticeably absent in expressing any sympathy~ That is hate in action. That is when any respect i had for you went up in smoke. Please continue to spread your vision of this glorious world....but look to the house of wood in your own eye~ as will I tend to mine.

I have listened to your squealing for years and never would demean you or myself by calling it that until now.

Geez, Pax, you need to get out more if you can achieve climax *THAT* easily.  Or as the cartoon caption says (over the dinner table), "Already?  My, that *IS* premature."

Palin is part of the most corrupt state branch of the most corrupt political party existing in America today.  Under investigation currently and under threat of legal action in the near future.

In short, the perfect Republan.

Sage, back when affirmative action was first getting going I lived in Tehachapi where two of the three main employers were cement plants.  Their quotas required a given number of employees be women.  At one point the company my ex worked for needed to hire and the law required the next person hired be female.  The guys were outraged as hauling around 90 pound bags of cement was beyond most womens ability.

They didn't care about the female part but were mad that they had to take on a woman co worker who couldn't hold up her end and ut more work on those who could..

Fast forward days when I played on pool leagues and when putting my quarters on the table got that rolling eyes "oh Gawd, a woman" attitude.  That was just before I'd take the table away from them reminding them that you didn't need to be a line backer to shoot with a 19 ounce pool que.

I say all this just to say I'm not a feminist, I'm just smart enough to know that women can't do EVERYTHING men can do but the things they CAN do just as well, should be allowed witout any snickering from the locker room boys.   :-)

posted by randomfactor on Aug 29, 2008 at 09:05 AM

Tell that to my friend's 20-year-old daughter, who's an inch taller than me and can almost certainly outlift me.  The old rules said that even though she could do the job as well as the smaller men being hired, she couldn't have the job.  I like the modern world better.

posted by NancyII on Aug 29, 2008 at 09:11 AM

RE: Pax and in agreement.  So it's ok for a man with say four children to take on a public office but a woman in office is neglecting her children?  I guess it's better if the little woman stay home barefoot and pregnant?

Oh I'm sure we'll hear a lot about that one.  Funny how the left embraced Hillary's breakthrough but will condemn Palin.  Don't forget, Hillary was involved in some really shady deals herself.

posted by anglo1 on Aug 29, 2008 at 09:13 AM

You boys and girls sure are squealing a lot about  a candidate you seem to think offers nothing to the nation or the Rep. ticket.  I would think you would be rejoicing.  I wonder if BLT could offer some insight into this behavior.
